As for the TT 300ZXs, they are just as quick as the Skylines, 0-100 in 5.5 stock I believe, but aftermarket and practality are nowhere near the straight 6. |

its so funny that you refer to a ricer as someone who drives an import.
youve been beaten by an import lately! the guy in the stroked clevo next to me didnt look to happy when i beat him with a 13.1 in a 32 GTR (intake, exhaust, 13psi = 300BHP) at willowbank (my first run mind you) compare apples with apples, if were talkin about GTR's not GTST's, forget the XR6T and bring up the F6! btw - did you go to school ? Its more the other way around, they designed and built the coupe then adapted it to a 4 door version in order to get extra sales and fill a gap in the market. Hence the mass amount of coupes and few odd 4 doors you see around.
Whereas HSV's are manily 4 doors with a few coupes running around in terms of ratios of 4 door V 2 door. |

I for one couldn't give a toss about which is quicker stock or otherwise!
Tha fact of the matter is a skyline/sylvia/180 is a over priced, over-rated rattly piece of plastic. not designed to handle our climate/conditions and to look at most of the daily drivers proves it. If you want to talk 4cyl turbo's go no further than a sti rex, genuine lancer evo, or a gt4 celica now they have race bred technology and build quality to back it all up with. Hey i would rather a RB20DET converted datsun1600 than a skyline I know what which one would go faster when the bitumen ran out. After all we are talkin stock road cars that dont just go in straight lines and only on the black stuff arent we. |

This threads funny. I'm a member of another car club also. I used to cruise with them all the time. Majority of the members have silvia/180's/200's/sil80's, skylines (various models). Yeah they can go fast but reliability suffers in a big way.
If you want a go fast 4cyl? Buy a Nissan GTi R. They were the only import car that ever gave me a scare. They are damn fast for the 1st 200-300m. A word of warning though. The gearbox and clutch are the weak link. They're good for 12's without too much effort. My input : The XR6T would win.

youve obviously never driven a GTR.....
hang on....ur saying a GTR doesnt have race bred technology ??? i must be mistaken....... : there probably is a good reason why they do cost $100k+ new...that IS for a rattly peice of plastic... how is it not designed to handle our climate/conditions ? i must be wrong, GTR's never raced at bathurst... jim richards and mark skaife aren't real people, and theres no such thing as winfield.. the amount of completely Bogus statements and uneducated opinions is so FUNNY !!!! anyways, school tommorow kids, time for bed :MrT_anim: Quote:

From my experience: (Having owned an XR6T, driven XR8s and R32/33 GTS-T's)
(Stock) 1st = XR6T 2nd = XR8 3rd = R32/3 GTS-T Some of you make me laugh. Do yourself a favour and drive various Japanese cars on your favourite bit of twisty road then your opinion will change I can guarantee it. Mine did. |

How can u even compare a GTR against the every day skylines etc. that people are talking about here.
As for the Bathurst win, well history showed what the fans thought of that and gentleman jim had a whinge if i remember right. Something about a pack of a-holes from memory. As for build quality im not even going to go any further than saying TOYOTA/LEXUS no arguments there. And as for uneducated, I will just go by what the boys at Regency Park here in Adelaide had to say when i took the things there for their compliancing and then took them back again time and time again because they didn't want the things allowed here. |

Not all skylines are fast
CA18DE or RB20E = These are extremely slow. They make what, about 80 kw of power have under 2 litre engines naturally asperated and SOHC and 12 valve means REAL SLOW. I don't even know if nissan allowed auto with such engines as they were too slow in the 5 speed. RB20DE = slightly faster. They finished up with 110kw odd, and about 180nm of torque way up high. They are slugs. auto's would be lucky to crack 10 seconds 0-100. They were avalible in coupes right into early R34. A old aussie R31 RB30E will still easily see these off. Blowing away a R32 coupe with GT-R badges and wheels? Proberly one of these. RB20DET and RB25DE = better but still not amazing. Early 20DET made ~120kw which went to ~140kw odd. Still no guts down low, <3000, and up high not much more. With a auto your still going to struggle to real off a sub 8 second time to 100. RB25DE is much the same, made simular power and torque. Turbo had a slightly redeaming top end. R31 RB30E perform simularly. it will depend on the condition of the car to which will win. Some of these were AWD as well, so more weight.. RB25DET = Fastish, R33 were 180kw, R34 were 206kw. They had torque, they had power. Sub 7's. XR6t's and XR8's tho should win most of the time. RB26DETT = FAST. Not even a standard F6 would beat one with a AWD launch. From a 5kmph rolling start the F6 might just do it.. Modified they just make other cars look silly. They power down so well... Skylines aren't invincible. GTRs are fast but all others are more than fair game. Tho many GTR's are now older than 10 years and may have been negitively modified. |

My fave Japanese car is and will always be the (here we go..haha) 1992 J-Spec 2+2 Twin Turbo Fairlady Z (300zx). I would then add the 2000 Jspec body kit to it and 17 inch wheels, upgrade the ecu and remove the speed limiter (oh and get one of those trick 300km/h dial faces). 300zx's get far too much crap for being overweight, but they are pretty much the same as Toyota Supras and look 300 times more classy. Low and wide... ---> My opinion is this.. 1st GTR Skyline 2nd XR6T 3rd XR8 Alternatively... 1st XR6T 2nd XR8 3rd GTST Skyline

Now, that against an XR6T... i wouldnt call comparing apples with apples. What are some $100k+ cars we can pit against an R34GTR because an XR6T simply isnt in the same league (no too far off tho which demonstrates the value for money we're getting with these turbocharged falcons). Of course, we're talking stock.... Bent_8 - interesting comments about regency Friend of mine bringing in an EVO8 (on the boat as we speak i think) and they're looking at 3 months minimum to get the thing complied.

I think we should compare the GTR to a ferrari or a lambo or some other exotic, purpose built, limited build no race car.
Yeah rediculous i know But hey he took the price cap over $100k im just making the GTR look slow now. Ferrari Enzo 1/4 mile in 10.8@135mph Nissan Skyline 1/4 mile slower than that Last edited by BENT_8; 05-04-2006 at 06:08 PM. |

According to Road & Track magazine, the R34 was " The best Gran Turismo ever to come from the Land of the Rising Sun ".

I have an old Wheels magazine with a comparison of the HSV GTS coupe and R34 GT-R, they claim both were stock, both were run on a chassis dyno, and the results were both around 220-230Kw @ the wheels. If I come across it soon I'll post the figures...

Yep and if you play GT1 you can crank 941 hp out of it(maybe more who cares)
and if you start at the right point on the oval test track and not slide out of the corners you can pull 424km/hr too |

Yes, and look at those retails. I bet the Typhoon could demolish the GT-R with the change :P
