Update. Had the carby looked at to stop top end leaning out.
So off to wsid today for the test and tune. Only 3 passes ( video etc to come) 1st pass staged broke the beam and counted to 3 (still no cage fitted) then off...12.9@122 still leaning out up top So off with the radials and on with the 205 maxxis 2nd pass 11.16@125 whoohoo a pb 3rd and final pass 11.13@126.02 another pb So a bitter sweet meet, new street tyre pb but still leaning out top end. So need to do a bit of research, fit a guage and see if holding/correct fuel pressure and maybe try/borrow a electric fuel pump see if the mechanical has finally met it's limit

Garrett,
I don't understand why someone of his experience in racing is running high 10's and keeps using a mechanical fuel pump and then wonders why its leaning out. |

Ooops forgot one
Stefan, I suppose comes down to 2 reasons, generally electric pumps are REAL noisy and don't seem to do the distance when used on the street often. BUT we were shown a pum yesterday no regulator required and QUIET AS Also his current mechanical pump is rated and 200gpm? and on the dyno and street tyres doesn't show any dramas "only" when radials are fitted so possibly standard pick up location or some else? Bit frustrating but at the end of the day like everything else is only time/money till sorted

Even on my car the engine builder told me if I run radials I must run an electric pump even though it runs rich on the dyno right through the rev range.
I can only assume fuel pump can't keep up at launch and simply can't recover. |

If the radials are lower profile, you may be going through the traps at a higher RPM and thats when you need more GPH.

Overall diameter of the radial is bigger than streety, from memory 25.5 (street) to 26" radial

I am sure it will go better once fuel issued sorted, dare say 60ft reflects the hard standard suspension...

Great work, thanks for the info.
You guys are lucky to get so much track time and be able to monitor your adjustments! I got to Heathcote recently and ran my first 1/4 in 6 years, hopefully again later this year. I only had time to make one adjustment as mine was leaning out at the top end as well. Bumped the jets up a couple of sizes(primary and secondarys)which helped the problem. Any other threads with more info on the XT? |

We (the crew including myself and the owner) think it is
Live to know what it would be capable of set up specifically to drag race? Bit hard too without the cage you get one crack then punted from track, owner was well confident of better times on the day, still leaving a tad off idle no where near the stall
