Anyone who has met me knows I usually sport a beard of some sort at all times, but when I do shave, I usually use a gillete turbo, and one beard usually = one blade once all the screaming is over.
I've been considering buying a straight edge razor. Not just for the ability to sharpen it myself, but because im from south australia, and need to keep my serial killer skills sharp as well.

I use a combination of a Gillette twin blade pivoting head thingy (can't remeber the name) to shave where my beard isn't and Wahl clippers with No. 5 comb for where it is. Actually my wife uses the clippers on me.
Tried electric shavers and they give me a nasty rash on my neck that takes until the next day to clear up. I've used blades for a long time (even when I didn't have my beard) and they are quicker and much gentler on my skin. Tried one of those disposable razors once and cut the scar on my chin (long story) so now I have a scar on my scar. |

You really can't go past the Gillette Mach 3. I can get a really close shave for a week out off one, which is really good value. Yes they are a little pricey, but you can get them reasonably cheap if you look, (ebay, pipeworks markets vic etc). This is an area that I know well as I must shave everyday for work and I have been doing so for 15 years. To think I started with a cut throat when I didn't even need to shave. Thank God for progress.

Upstairs or downstairs, its always a disposable style razer.
I can't stand electric shavers. None yet have given me a decent shave like a blade.

I've tried heaps of different types but I used to use Mach 3 ones but currently use Schick Quattro - the world's first four bladed razor!!
I got it for in introductory special and then won another 4 blades via SMS lol.. That was about three months ago and I just started using the 1st of the free 4. So 2 blades in 3 months. It is ok, I pretty rarely cut myself but then again I don't bother doing a very thorough job. And cos I got the free replacement pack its worked out pretty cheap.. But I have about six or seven different razor handles, just need new heads lol.. I only shave the bare minimum for my job, which is Monday, Wednesday, Friday, as I work for a company that deals with food and I don't like wearing beard nets when I have to enter the factory. Otherwise I'd only shave once every few weeks tops if I could. I did buy a Phillishave use in the shower waterproof type job cos I was sick of using razors but I only used it a few times cos it sucked and now its sitting on the sink collecting dust. Takes ages to do a good job. Might give it away or get $10 for a pawn shop lol.. Waste of $150. Dan..

Mach 3 n/a here. I upgraded to Mach 3 Turbo and it sucked, I didn't mind the colour, but the handling was much better with the n/a (felt more solid and balanced, compared with light and airy with the Turbo).

And funnily enough, after all the shaving that females do you'd think they'd be good at it.. My gf kept asking if she could shave my face and fearing her having a blade near my throat I kept saying no.
Eventually I said yes (we were on a roadtrip and figured she needed me to drive so I was pretty safe) and it was terrible!! She was too afraid of cutting me and so didn't press hard enough. I had to finish myself.. And yes this was actually about shaving, although having a gutter mind I know I could take a second meaning to it LOL.. Dan...

Currently got Gillette Blue II Plus "Sensitive" disposables, 20 pack.
Who knows what sort the next disposables will be... Doesn't matter if its me or my grandparents buying them for me... all they or I do is grab any disposable pack and pay for it.. heh. |

I have no allegiance to any razor in particular. As I work im a chemist on weekends I just try out a different type every week. Right now I got that mach3 electric thingo...Doesn't seem to be any different to a normal razor. I think its just marketing crap.

Waxing all the way!
But when shaving is needed.. Mach 3. Is so much easier to steal a razor from the pack andy uses!

Used to use basic model electrics 'cause I thought it would be easier/quicker than manual, then tried manual shave and found it to be better/easier/quicker lol.
First used Schick Diamond (sweet lookin' machined alloy contoured handle - looks like something you'd pay Herrod's 150 bucks for instead of $8 at Coles LOL) - nice smooth shave but I CBF shaving until I have to go out for dinner or work at front counter at work or grow enough beard to start itching lol, the Diamond would get clogged up in seconds mowing through all the hair and couldn't unclog it lol - only good if you shave each day etc. I then got a Mach 3 'cause of it's nice open 'free-flowing' blades which can't get clogged with hair - it works well. Blades last me for ages 'cause of my slack shaving habbits lol. |
