What about THE ROCK with the F355, chase was a little short but a highlight of the movie I thought.

showing my age here but in the old Aussie cop show Matlock Police, there is an awsom 5 minute chase in one episode where cops try to catch an XT GT Falcon and has scenes that actually looked real from inside the car facing windscreen where GT goes to end of speedo, trees and white lines on road looked exactly like they do when you do go that fast, the first time on TV where the cops call off chase as they cant catch the GT.

And what about Steven King movie CHRISTINE about car that has evil spirit controlling it with no driver at wheel.

Anyone remember THE GUMBALL RALLY? it was a race from new york to longbeach california. It had a 427 cobra and a V12 ferrari spider neck and neck the whole way, racing through the aquaducts of california towards the end amongst a 300sl, camaro and a porsche carrera. i think it was made in 1978. i only just found the dvd on ebay. a top bloody flick!

I liked Ronin, the Transporter (didn't know there was a Transporter 2), and the original Gone in 60 seconds. (again, ignore the acting in that movie). The remake of Gone in 60 seconds was pretty good, but they ruined it with that jump scene IMO.

Another good car chase.
If that's the Aussie film your talking about, i believe that was called "Driving on empty", but it did have some nice scenes with the nitrus'd XY in it.

Was definately Running On Empty. I checked www.imdb.com, and was made in 1982. I thought it was earlier.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned any of the "Getaway in Stockholm" films... I love the second one personally, riding in a hot Escort Cosworth doing insane speeds and sounding like an angry rhino that's eaten way too much curry!

Are the Stockholm films of illegal activity or done on autobahns or something? What exactly are they? Seen them in shops.

Not exactly legal, or so we are led to believe anyway, could be staged I guess - the police pulling over the Porsche at the start of GIS 1 certainly looks staged to me.

It was filmed in Sydney and Canbelligo, near Cobar NSW, featured a young Deborah Conway (Do-Re-Me lead singer)as the female lead. They talk about running at Brickies which was where Olympic park is now.

I rememeber Deborah Conway because there's a topless scene and I remember thinking, "Hey, isn't she some big pop singer now?"

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes has a car chase at 20 km/h - it's a pretty ridiculous film overall but is the only film to capture the crash of a helicopter when it was only meant to be pretending to crash.

Well said, 300 km/h in traffic is nuts. Sounds like I'll have to watch this Ghost Rider you speak of...

I loved the scene in Christine where the plymouth is driving itself and is chasing the 67 camaro... slams it into a petrol station, and then bursts into flames... The sight of a flaming plymouth is just scary...

The Black Caddilac wasn't too bad either.... damn the caddy sounds nice...

There was one from the early 80's or late 70's which featured a black Lincon I think.
It was the devils car and it drove around aimlessly killing people. In one of the car chases it barrel rolled onto the cop cars destroying them but I carn't remember the name of it. Does anyone remember this movie?
Answer - THE CAR with James Brolin and Ronny Cox
It was never released on video in australia but was on TEN TV in 1985, 1995 and 2003 only in original print form / PAN & SCAN full screen

Great flick - I have contacted george barris and his son about the film and the car he did - there is some info about it on his website
I have got the american 2000-2003 Widescreen anchor bay NTSC VHS remastered version and even an advertising clip about it (before cinema release) which I got out of motor mag from 1977
Car was a early 70's Lincoln continental mark III

All the previous mentioned movies are excellent, I have almost all of them
Also have sony betamax, VHS x 8 machines, pioneer ntsc/pal laserdisc and DVD's - about 3,000 in total, my mate has the same and a friend of mine has 17,000 LD's

Cannonball aka carquake with david carradine is another
Death Toll - actually a truck flick with peter fonda and the guy from smokey & bandit
Smokey bites the dust

Pretty good? It would have to be the greatest! I love the fact that it was the entire movie and that it lasted 45 minutes! I also love the way they used the same car right through, even thought they slammed a pole by accident.
