I'm pretty happy with any of them, as long as it sounds good and not like a clapper ;)

Go the 335's, they are the widest used engine in Aus for the old skool revhead. Now with the new alloy heads and stroker kits available the skys the limit.

I reckon the 5.6 Stroker was the corker of all the modern ones. The 5.4 in stock form hasn't yet impressed me enough, although I still think its pretty good.

I don't know enough about the clevo to make a decision though so for me its the windsor (But only in 5.6 form).

So many decisions, & only one vote. I voted against my heart, the flathead & voted with my head 2nd gen FE, I personally would have any Ford V8 in my shed, but either of those two are most welcome.

I've only driven one Ford V8 and it's the one I own so the Windsor 5.0 and 5.6 gets my vote by default

427 cammer is the King. Nothing comes close for a production donk in my book.
351 Boss, very under rated and quicker than the 302
302 Boss, sounds horn on full song
385 series, tough big easy horsepower. I had a 460 and loved it.
351 Cleveland 4V, the true Aussie legend
289 windsor, a true classic, good enough for Carroll Shelby and Le Mans GT 40's

I had to vote for the flattie. If it wasn't for that engine there probably be no Ford V8s today. Otherwise I would lean towards either the 427 cammer or the 302 tunnel port.

And the Big block could probably run all day @6500 rpm, where as the boosted taxi donk would probably handranade after half an hr at full throttle...! :

The 427 "cammer" was good for 657 hp at 7500 rpm according to Ford figures, not bad for the early 60's eh? Shame they were disallowed for Nascar...

302 Tunnel Port? you're kidding, surely? unreliable peaky POS motor that was rightly replaced with the Boss 302. (302 tunnel port is hardly a production engine anyway, same for the Cammer. 50 engines is not a production motor)

The 4.6 Litre quad cam 32v V8 in the mustang cobra for me in N/A tune. Revs brilliantly and the sound is just out of this world

Early windsor since i have one, but there all good to me.

If boss302's were made before clevelands does that mean clevelands have canted valve windsor heads?

I like the look of the flathead, but it's the Cleveland for me. Windsors are good as well.

I voted for my present Boss 260 but have owned a few Clevo's and love them too.

What an engine!

FE GenII takes my vote. The 427 8V side oiler is an awesome engine even by todays standards.
Following closely is the Boss 302.
The race heritage and victories of these engines speaks for itself.

I have thuoght about this for a while, and in the end had to with the flatty, because without it we would probly all be driving corsair's (but there would be a lot more oil left in the ground : ).

anyone who has heard the "in cabin" noise a large port cleveland makes normally aspirated at 130mph through the traps will know the answer :

4V Cleveland, hands down.

Cosworth V8, Flathead , Slopehead, 427, Windsor then Clevo...
Only due to Windsor surviving for so long...
