In the mid 80's used to sometime get picked up from school by a mates older brother in an XB Coupe.....I was about 15 then, and had to have one started work and saved my butt off to buy a XB Coupe with 302, c4 and a factory slide back sunroof.....Still have it today over 20 years later it is undergoing a full back to bare metal resto as I post this.
Have owned Ford V8's ever since, and still have three at the moment the latest being my fpv GT.....King of the Mountain '06 '07 '08.......times are good atm |

Runs in the family, for sure. When I was much younger, my uncle owned an XT, my old man owned an XB (which I tried to drive when I was five years old ), my brother in law owns an XB GT (not immediate relation, obviously, but the car played a big influence) and my sis owned an XB and an XY.

I don't claim to be a Ford man nor a Holden man. Matter of fact, the Ford vs Holden debate bores me to tears. I reckon both stables have made plenty of great cars but also a heap of complete duds. I'm just a car enthusiast. I'm sure I'll own a few cars of different makes in years to come.

My dad has owned Fords since I was born and is a Ford man but not really a passionate Ford fan. He still barracks for Ford at the racing of course. He's actually fond of V Dub Beatles, harks back to when he had one in the 60's when he was a 20 something. So I grew up in a Ford household and it rubbed off.
My mum isnt a Ford fan, she's just a Holden hater. Nothing against the cars but against the company itself because she works for them. She loves her Magnas actually, and I'm a little partial to them too. Very good, honest cars.

that first race in my cousins cobra ,was new then .then as i got cars of my own it was the old 250 that turned me tru blu, cortina style ,jellybeans ,oil leaks bulbar ,those were the days ,186 ,202,253,308 comeon they couldnt catch ya no matter how hard they tried .,
the fact back then is when you went hooning you always towed the holdens home ,weak boxes and diffs that broke everytime ya did a skid or changed gear too quik. im like some i like the oddballs ,escort ,landau ,sundowner ,fairlane etc.oh and clevo was the end winner mmmmm clevo.

Brought up with Fords
But being taken for a spin at highly illegal speeds in one of these sealed it... : |

Dad owned many Fords but I was not brand loyal to Ford until I got my AU. The car is great in so many ways and can not fault it.

I orginally brought a vy v6 commdore had it for a few years, it was a fairly decent/reliable . I then started looking at upgrading i drove a few xr6ts and xr8s and decided to go the xr8. No real reason for switching over just like the drive of the henry a bit better.

why am i a ford fan....well i had always loved the holdens, ever since i was young, and it was due to the VL id have to say. i tolerated the fords, kind of, then my mate got a BA XT kitted up as a GT. and i fell in love. everything about it screamed "make love to my intake"
so i purchased my xr6. and altho it has its faults, i still love it, and the blue oval, to peices. it has swelled my heart so much i thought of having this printed on a sticker: Holes Oil Leaks Dents Engine Noise. but i really cant throw it at holden too much. they do use other companies motors with great results(just playing)

remember watching moffat as a 7 or 8 year old, dominate bathurst, loved xys from that point, and have grown up with the evolution of ford.

It was the old man for me as well. that was passed on to my older brother who was always a falcon ute man. got my XH off my brother when he lost his license (took him 12 months to hand the keys over to me! still remember how hard it was for him). I'm just a ford man, that simple.

My parents had an XW GS when I was a kid which I loved, didn't really know much difference back then but I remember whenever the loud pedal got pushed things started to flash by real quick. Then in my early teens one of my brothers mates took me for a drive in his XA GT and I have never been the same since, That sound of a screaming Cleveland and gear changes that knocked me back in the seat along with lots of white smoke peeling off the back tyres that sealed it for me.
I have owned a few Holdens but I always end up back in a ford, For the last couple of years I have had a VT SS as my everyday car and I have enjoyed it heaps but it still isn't a ford V8 so it is time for it to find a new home. My 12 year old daughter has told me if the XT Fairmont isn't completed by time she gets her licence that she is taking it off of me and fixing it herself, I think I have created at least 1 more Ford nut |

Dad sold them and still does, so I have grown up with them. He would drive demos home since EA's.

My Father had a series of Holdens and then a Ford (1967 XR) and was converted from then on. Even My brother in-law who was a Holden man had his Holden breakdown, borrowed My fathers Falcon and from that point was so impressed with the Ford he has been a Ford man ever since.
I personally have always had Fords since getting my licence in 1977 but I worked for 21 years with the Tasmanian Government and had several makes of provided vehicles, I had 2 Commodores a VS and a VT, both were rubbish, didn't handle very well, mostly understeer and both broke down more than once, after that I always had the Falcons without trouble. |

My Dad owned a '49 Mercury, a '51 Single Spinner Customline, a '55 Customline (1st of the OHV engines) and then a string of Falcons, inc. XL Wagon, XR Sedan, XA 2502V Ute and an XP 2-door, etc. in that order. What was I to do? I just had to own Fords. I've had, in order, '69 Cortina, '73 TC Cortina 250-6 Sedan, '64 XM 2-door, '66 XP 2-door V8/C4, '74 TD Cortina 250-6 Wagon, '70 Capri V6GT, '89 Brock Fairmont Ghia and a '71 Capri V6GT. Along the way I have also tried a brand new LX Torana which I swapped after 4 months for the TC Corty, a '71 Corolla Wagon (due to financial considerations at the time, after the Corty Wagon) and later an '89 Subaru Touring Wagon, the 'family' car before the Capri's and the Fairmont Ghia. My daily driver now is a 2007 Mazda Tribute V6 and I still have the '89 Brock Fairmont Ghia and the '71 Capri V6GT.

My father had a theory to why I am a BlueBlood.
He told me I was almost born on the front seat of an XY. Plus he had Fairlanes and LTDs while I was growing up.
