My first car was a XF ute.

Still miss it occasionally.

Two tone green FB Holden station wagon with "3 on the tree" and genuine Holden valve radio, back in 1974. Cost me $200 plus RWC costs (a new set of cross plies and seat belts). The front guards eventually got so rusty the bit behind the wheel arch flapped in the breeze.
I remember a stretch of road near home which had a nice long curve which I could slide it around. That stretch of road now has speed reducing islands, so someone must have come to grief along there.
I must say however this car never let me down. It was eventually traded in for a sporty Mazda 929 coupe when I finished uni.

back when i got my L's in 97, i had an 86 XF ute....dropped on its guts, 2 tone SVO style paint fairmont interior and worked engine......was an awesome first car at teh time...

sold it only because it was riddled with rust and was offered the NC for a price i simply couldnt refuse......

1963 Ford Anglia 105E was the car I learnt to drive in and cost me NZ$650.
Grey, sloppy steering, really soft springs but was a damn good car, until I was involved in an accident which was not my fault and the old girl was "written off".
Damn shame, had lots of good times in that car.
That was back in 1980, BLOODY HELL!

VC SL 4 cyl Commodore. Bought it off the brother. Ripped the engine out, rebuilt it (on an apprentice wage), threw a set of headers at it and a Weber carby, go a cam grind, heavier valve springs. It turned out OK in the end. It would pull 180 when tuned right. Thought that was OK........ but then braking became an issue.

Things you do when your young!

Traded it in on my very first Falcon (EB Demo). Got, wait for it,.......... $11500 for it. They sold it for $5500.

EA Fairmont Ghia

Was a pretty good car, and it was on gas so being at uni that helped.bad thing, that 3 speed auto!

Everything was all good until I ran it up a curb. Fix it then sold it to a mate. 3 years later it ended up this is!

I bought two, from the same place.
An XT falcon 200ci,column shift, it was rusted through on the passenger side floor and had a piece of lead under the carpet for the floor,other than that it lokked quite good,
and a mini 850, loved the start button on the floor,both were white, and I payed $300 for both.
The XT got barrel rolled down a hill when it died by some mates,and I sold the mini for $50.

An '86 SL VL commodore, currently driving it

swapped it for a EF and then swapped back due to reliability issues. It's a shame, I miss having power steering, air conditioning and most of all a Ford badge

Crikey! Not bad for your first insofar safety, ESP following the Elk test, fogs front n rear, triangle, strange shape, plastic fenders if I recall.

Has it been downhill with cars for you since??

They devalued fast, but make good city cars with enough power for mild nearby city drives, good crash strength for a 'smallie'. Nearly bought one for a nearby Learner driver.

I had it from new it was a great little car. Great on fuel. very nice to drive. Expensive to service and paint. Enjoyed my time with it. but its was time for something new.
Ive owned a CLK for a while. it was ok. but i use to have it keyed all the time.
So i deceided to buy a BA XR6 falcon for something different i dont think its a down hill move i just wanted to be normal so to speak.

My very first car was my father’s first new car, a 1970 Xy Falcon 500 wagon.

It was effectively given to me cheaply for me to restore. Still have it.

My first car was a 1984 Mitsubishi Sigma 2.6 5 speed with A/C. It was comfy but got crap fuel mileage.

Traded it on a one owner 5.8 XD Fairmont Ghia with factory ESP suspension...the worm turned pretty quickly from there...

I copied what I saw on Play School once.

I got a smallish cardboard box and removed the top and bottom of it, put 2 straps for my shoulders, 4 paper plates for wheels, 1 paper plate for the steering wheel and drew some headlights and sang, "I'll take you riding in my car, car. I'll take you riding in my car, car. I'll take you riding in my car, car. I'll take you riding in my car."

My parents then arrested me for speeding and reckless driving (I ran into a chair) and was smacked and sent to my room.

I never sped again. The system works!

last year i got a hand me down EA fairmont, was neat, until it was stolen twice, second time had bricks thrown at it, then i bought the XD, until it get a major defect, now i have the EB XR8...
