Replacing the USB hub is easy. Not plug and play though. You'll need to solder 2 wires (refer to my sync 3 post for exact soldering instructions) Unless the Falcons have the same connectors as the new hub but I highly doubt it.

Guy's in the middle of writing up some info on the upgrade. I'll be posting this in the FG-FGX page.

I know this is an old thread, but I have managed to get apple CarPlay and android auto installed into my FG-X. Looks the part, that’s for sure. Can’t seem to post a photo. Maybe I can sort Apple CarPlay but can’t sort a photo online. Wonderful ha.
Edit: bought from soso.co.nz - I posted a review on google reviews which includes the photo |

It's not full Sync3, only the Carplay/Android part. But looks pretty slick. P.S. you can upload images to somewhere like imgur.com then post the links here.

Hi Folks,
New to the SYNC upgrade discussion. I’m looking into the hardware swap out of Sync 2 to Sync 3 for my LZ ST. Does anyone have any advice on what hardware version to buy? As Sync 3 rolled out there would have been hardware revisions no doubt (CPU, RAM video etc) just wondering if there was an ideal hardware version I should be asking my potential supplier to provide so i can get the best Sync 3 experience. Cheers all. |

No I did not. I just asked specifically if would fit an FG-X (which it does). If anything I am leaning towards a Mr FPV unit as linked above. Aeropro also planning to have a FG-X unit development I believe. (For the aftermarket Android H/U's like the FG Mk. I. ) HTH

OK Update.
Manage to find cheap a Ranger Sync3 Unit. Ordered GPS Antenna Havent ordered the USB Media Hub unit yet. Sync3 Head unit 1.jpg Contacted a few places, including Tonkins in Adelaide, A melbourne company who have a lot of exprience in repairs etc. All have told me its a rewire and not straight swap, so wish me luck. Probably try it out in next few days. Sure I will get some errors, no usb hub, no reverse camera and no GPS...... Other bug is FGX is single zone. Sync 3 is for dual zone..... |
