The US Election juggernaut is a bit like a comedy show at the local pub.
Some bits are very funny, some are so so and then there's the bits that just leave you shaking your head in disbelief. I do wonder though how so many Yanks come under the Trump spell... |

Trump is an opportunist. He appeals to the many who are sick of a progressive elite trampling all over traditional values and common sense (does this concept still exist?) and he has put on a disguise to suit his purpose...

Bernie Sanders appears pretty hard left in comparison to the other candidates and our own political players, but in the big picture he's not extreme, just left of centre. And he's what 95% of the world population so desperately needs. The other 5% will fight to the death and spend whatever it takes to keep him out. If he got in and actually kept his position and promises he'd probably be assassinated.
My bet is it's going to be a Trump vs Clinton election and Clinton will take it by a landslide. It's interesting that even the neo-liberal extreme right wing nutters on this forum have denounced Trump as well - who the hell is behind this guy? From where I'm sitting he doesn't appeal to anyone! |

I must say the more I read/see about Trump, he kind of reminds me of Clive Palmer. CP "talked" a big game, and touched a nerve early on being against govco, the establishment and sticking up for the little guy. But when push came to shove.....

One thing he's successfully done is build his 'brand'. Trump is almost synonymous with wealth and success to the American public. When you scratch the surface though, what's revealed is a long string of unsuccessful business ventures.

I've lived here since my birth in 1965. And I've spent a month wandering your country as well. I've also visited the UK.

I'm probably going to get hammered for this post , good on trump for coming out and speaking the truth / his mind . It's quite refreshing to see a candidate come out and not be afraid of what he or she for speaking there mind.
I look at Hillary and to me she comes across as a born breed political puppet , my only concern with Trump is how /plan are you going to make America great again . Just my 2c Last edited by jandj; 13-03-2016 at 08:38 PM. Reason: missed a word |

Besides blocking Muslims from entering the US and building a wall to keep the Mexicans out, can you tell me what other policies Trump has explained? I love his China policy..! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYoOPgeTMQc |

100% the guy (both of them) as no tact or clue how to deal with people. Business is one thing govco is entirely different...you cannot run a country like a business even if your intentions are good.

Try to keep this in mind, Donald Trump did not steal your money. Donald Trump did not raise your taxes. Donald Trump did not quadruple the price of food. Trump is not stirring a race war. Trump did not leave any US soldiers in Benghazzi to be slaughtered and desecrated by Muslims. Trump did not send the US Navy to fight for Syrian Al-Qaeda. Trump did not arm ISIS and systematically exterminate Christians throughout the Middle East. Trump did not betray Israel. Trump did not provide financing and technology to Iran's nuclear weapons program. Trump did not give their military secrets to China. Trump did not remove their nuclear missile shield in Poland at the behest of Russia. Trump did not shrivel their military, and betray their veterans. Trump did not cripple their economy. Trump did not increase their debt to 20 trillion dollars. Trump did not ruin their credit, twice. Trump did not double African American unemployment. Trump did not increase welfare to a record level for eight years. Trump did not sign a law making it legal to execute, and imprison Americans. Trump did not set free all of terrorists in Guantanamo bay. Trump did not steal your rights, violate US Constitutional law, or commit treason, hundreds of times.
Yet Trump is being ripped apart in the news, non stop. Barrack Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton and the criminals occupying our government, are not. |

..and so he should be - this man is running for arguably the most important position in the 'free world' and has millions hoodwinked. He's a snakeoil peddler with a gift of the gab. You can find ample breakdowns of why his language and approach works. You can also find ample examples of his failed ventures and bankruptcies. I wouldn't trust him to run a sausage sizzle at Bunnings.
Nothing he says has any substance and much of what he says is untrue. So much so that, unlike previous years where factcheck.org lists the best whoppers to solicit lie of the year, they simply nominated Trump as the King of Whoppers because he told so many. http://www.factcheck.org/2015/12/the...-donald-trump/ |

Who said anything about him being evil? I just think he's incompetent who has untold problems running his own failed businesses so I fear his inability to run a country. The only candidate that I have any trust in would be Sanders and there's not a hope that he'll get in.
You seem to be using Trumpesque tactics by waving one point in the air to try and slip another by. All politicians lie, Trump never killed anyone therefore Trump should be president?! He's actually on record saying he could shoot someone and people will still vote for him. That the way to defeat ISIS is to kill their families. The man is a buffoon who's only skill is self-promotion. |

Put it this way, if Trump is genuinely anti-establishment, he'd be dead within the week should he get elected. The hegemony of the banking/military/industrial complex would be in jeopardy should he get in.
If he is merely full of hot air and bluster, it would be one of the most successful con jobs in the history of the US presidential race. |

I haven't been following it really, we have so much of the political grand standing in this country alone at election time , i`m just over the whole political rhetoric thing and the run up to the election day,
who ever gets elected will be interesting though, and i reckon it probably is important to us southerners . Trumps volatility and mouthing off which i dont go looking for , but its hard to not see it ......he`s not someone i would vote for, don`t know about Hilary , i think shes been in the business long enough , don`t know the others either. i would have liked to have seen Arnie get the job if law would allow it , he seems to be a dude that puts thought into his actions and appears to use logic most of the time. |

I was referring to two specific people who post regularly on this forum, based on many comments in various threads, you being one of them. In the interest of keeping the discussion civil I'll retract the "nutters" bit, applies more to the other guy anyway. |

That is unless by some miracle, a candidate the likes of Ron Paul gets in come 2020 and begins a wholesale demolition of the institutions of slavery: the Fed, the IRS and the banking system. |

Those who dismissed Donald Trump as a serious presidential candidate clearly don't understand Americans.
