Yep, couldn't be bothered toothing it in properly..

IMO, same standard as modern timber frame construction, can't be bothered to rebate notch the bottom and top plates anymore with too much reliance on nail gun brads and little tin brackets.

My point!......it was caused by the earthquake not natural attrition, I never said it was built to code. But the "ties were surely placed in wet mortar as the main wall went up so did the divider wall, and I fully agree that it should of been tied in with bricks every second course!

I didn't feel a thing when the quake happened. It must have happened when I was walking back home from a local supermarket. Got home, put the radio on and they were talking about it.

A lot of people got the shakes in Canberra north of the lake but very few reports south of it. Nothing in the district I live.

I had two thoughts. That building got ****ed up and I was thinking there are a lot of brickies to clean up the bricks with not much else to do.

Then I thought how weird it would be if the bricks fell on the brickies if they had been there protesting at the time

They do have a grog outlet but I didn't buy any grog and it was way too early for me to be drinking anyway.
