BA GT: because its the only one in its colour, its a GT, and i finally made enough money to afford a GT, although might be the cheapest GT you can buy its still a GT
VX Commodore Wagon: because its black, took me 7 months to find a black one and travelled 6 hours to get it, it is big inside, comfotable, goes ok, good on fuel, looks good in my eyes and the missus won't let me sell it plus its moved us into 3 houses, tows the boat, i can chuck all my boat crap into the boot, i can sleep in it comfortably, it didn't cost alot even if i gave it away i wouldn't loose that much 91 Vitara JLX Soft top: because its fun, cost me bugger all, cost bugger all the register, goes anywhere, the roof comes off, its has big mud terrains, and i can parks its 3m length anywher end its just cool.... VX Track car: only built it for fun so its being sold

Yep. I would like a new car, a one- or two-year-old wagon such as a Territory or maybe go Euro and get a Passat. But, I reckon the new car excitement would wear off after a year or so and I'd be wanting to upgrade again. My bank account would take a big hit thanks to depreciation and the process repeats.
It's boring, but I'll save my money for more important things. |

I own it!
Cost not much to run being on lpg and has never let me down. As said above, pouring money into a depreciating assist is a mugs game.

Just love driving it, and when the missus and two girls give me a hard time I can go out to the shed and hide. Last edited by rjk74; 29-01-2016 at 09:53 PM. |

FG2 GT. Contemplated selling it then noticed how few were for sale and one with 80,000 on the clock was selling for nearly the same price I scored mine for 2 years ago and mine has half the mileage.

What makes me keep my car is 'cos for the money I've got I'm unlikely to get a better one.Better the devil you know than the one you don't know.I always say that "time will tell."I had the previous (XF sedan)for 12 years & the present(AU Wag3SR)for 4.5 years.

Because no one wants an old plastic FPV. Can't give it away. No credibility. Rubber band engine.
And............ I like it. |

I need to get a buzz every time I drive , even if it's just up to the shops.
the GT looks good , sounds beautiful , the engine makes a noise like satan woke up with a wedgie and found he's run out of cigarettes and coffee ..... The sunroof lets the sun in on a glorious spring drive up through the hills and the noise of the boss filters in making the radio a redundancy. It has stripes , it has flair , it has muscle , it has tons of character , it's my toy , my transport , my hobby and something that I can gladly spend coin on without feeling guilty. It's basically a LifeSize HOT WHEELS car. And........its a GT I just don't get that in any other car , so it's staying. |

I'll be stuffed why I do. It drinks too much fuel, costs a lot to service even when nothing is wrong, chews too many tyres, is far from comfortable and is nowhere near the best I can afford.
But I tell you what. Every Sunday when I take a far longer cruise than necessary to get to the shops it is just a pleasure to drive. The WRX is still one of the best performance cars you can buy. |

Territory ... can't think of anything better to do what it does already ... and still drives really well for what it is. Comfortable, lazy cruiser, handles well ... tonnes of room. Awesome tower. Had it since new (only new car I have bought) ... was well worth buying the first of the model range with this one. I'll keep it till it rusts away .. LOL
FG XT ... early days ... have had it a few years ... soo smooth and comfortable ... frugal on fuel for what it is ... with my current finances though ... I think it will stay ... would be nice to upgrade to the last Falcon ... but I don't have that cashflow. Quite happy with this one and the way it drives as well. I own both as well.

Already told the wife that we'd replace her car first (1991 Corolla Seca) as I can keep mine going for another couple of years.
Mine, as you may well guess, 1995 EF XR6 Wagon, 5spd manual. What most of you have already said is the reason why I keep mine. (Thought I was the only crazy person on here - I kept my last car (XD ESP) for just on 20 yrs too) Apart from some unreliability every now and then, it has just been a great car. Yeah, it's a bit rough around the edges, 20yrs old this year and 480,000 kms on the clock but it keeps doing what I want from it. I would honestly struggle to replace it at the moment!!

Because I love it. Have big plans for it.
And because it's worth too much to me, and too little to anyone else, to justify selling it. And I'd regret it big time. |

The young fella has been bitten hard by the XB bug. Your list of XB's is like a candy store of GS cool, very impressive! Keep going, I have a feeling we will join the club at some stage...

I will keep my XM Futura that I have had for 30 years because I have rebuilt every part of it, and it was built in almost in the same month as I got my licence.
I will keep my 84 KB43 Rodeo 4WD ute because it is so crude, simple, and practical, it has no electronics, apart from the diodes in the alternator, and no pollution controls because I threw away the monstrous Niki Carb and replaced it with a simple old Weber, it is the sort of vehicle that can be kept going forever. I will keep my 2003 Forrester, with 480,000 km on it, going as long as possible only because my wife loves it. I would like to keep my SY AWD Territory, 270,000 on the clock, for longer but I don't think keeping a high mileage modern car full of electronics is very practical. Next year, wife permitting, I would like to trade it in on a new FGX. It could be company in the garage for the XM, it's "great grandfather".

Cause it is a big, 4 door, RWD, muscular, turbocharged weapon in blue!
I don't care about fuel economy, don't care about electric cars, not interested in getting from A to B. I'm a big Aussie bloke with a great Aussie toy! What's not to love... seriously!
