One of my brothers mates is the local copper at Kinglake, he lost his house plus the cop shop.

Imagine the weather and wind was still high today, it would still be spreading to the suburbs and other bushland

My weather station recorded 48.2 here in Melton Vic yesterday :(

My thoughts are with all the families of the fire victims.

If the mongrels are doing that, they should be a little easier to catch.

My cousin lives in Pheasent Creek, we we're all up at his parents house in Tocumwal for there 40th wedding aniversary, at 4pm he rushed back to Kinglake to see how his house was, he still hasn't been able to go home. His neighbour turned his sprinklers on his roof on for him & it looks like its saved his house, his on an acre block, the two one acre blocks next to him have been cleared by the fire & a couple of my cousins fence post burnt to the ground. He has his neighbour to thank for helping him out & looking after his dog.

We went along the Hume Hwy about 45 mins before the fires spread over the Hwy in Kilmore/Wongdong area, luckily they re opened the hwy this morning & we we're able to get home, here's some photo's we took :(

Avalon/Lara was officially the hottest place in Aus yesterday, 47.9C.

We've got reports of lots of aquintences who've lots whole properties, stables full of horses (one lost 29 in one stable block) and manner of devastation. Nature can be very brutal when she wants to be. :(

Where'd you get that info? All I can find is 36 currently confirmed.

EDIT: Just heard on 7 News that 49 is correct. This is now officially the worst death toll ever I believe. Ash Wednesday had 47 lives lost.

My thoughts are with all those out there who have lost their lives, have loved ones who have lost their lives and with those that just don't know yet.

It was just on Channel 7 in Melbourne. The 6 PM news bulletins should have plenty of updated info.

Edit: They’ve just said on channel 7 news that the death toll is now 50.

Channel 10 just confirmed 50 dead at the moment.

Far worse than Ash Wednesday.

Just terrible.

Just back for 36 hrs in Gippsland on a training camp...
Yesterday was the worst, hottest smokiest day ive ever seen, and the locals said the same, with the Princess Hwy closed we couldn't leave even if we wanted, we were surrounded by fires, the ash and mess was amazing.. at 5.30pm yesterday it was like midnight the smoke was so thick...
I can only try to imagine the hardship the fire fighters and victims of this are going through.

From news.com.au-

General information on fires and fire locations is available by calling the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667.

Anyone concerned about family or friends in fire areas should call the CFA on 1800 727 077.

Got some of the vids up. I found out later today, there were no Firey's around hence why we lost houses.
The Firey's that atteneded were on their way to the Bunyip fire.
I'm just glad we had the CFA turn up, I think there would have been deaths here yesterday, if they hadn't of double backed and attended this fire.

The Marysville one shocks me, that's nuts. Got to check on a few people.

This is absolutly insane.

65 people dead, towns wiped off the map.

I hope and pray that they get the cool change and a good soaking rain to easy the situation.

I just watched a news report, A kinglake pub survived, not sure which one...

I just rang a friend in Yea, he sits on a picturesque hilltop just north of the town (about 3k).
He is staying, but his partner has taken refuge in Yea township, all roads in Yea are apparently blocked.
That's pucker factor 9 now.

Yesterday was my parent's house I tried to protect, and I thought the worst had gone, but today I was out at Resdale as my father in law has a home on racecourse rd where the front swept through, it's horrific, they have lost so much, their little dog is fighting for his life, poor little bugger.

If the CFA is correct and there is a chance some of the fires were deliberately lit, that person/s will want to hope like hell that the police catch them before the public does. What a senseless waste of life............
