My brother called one of his cattle dogs converter...
Because he converts perfect good food into [sch*t ] 1/4 pounders
.. The other dog is called pounder for obvious reasons..

Our Ridge Back is called Tawney. Thats what color she is.
Uncle has a blue staffy called CASH. Due to the amount of money he has spent on it.
Another mate called his dog, "DOG" go figure?

we've called our new kitten Ozzy, after Ozzy Osbourne, but all he gets is Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, Oi, Oi, Oi!

Some names I've used for female pets;

Tabitha [tabby for short]
Nera [as in Opal Nera the alcohol]
Meisha
Kaya
Krackers [the bird was crazy!]
Jo
Cleo

I just called my dog Adele (came up with after thinking Adelaide as a joke). Also named my parents dog Bella which is probably a very common one.
One or two syllable words are good, and nothing embarrassing you won't want to call out when she runs off.
Google searches might help ie http://www.dognameswoof.com/girldognames.htm.

my Saffy x Lab was a stray that we took in, he was 12 months old when he arrived, nobody knew his name so he got stuck with Dog.

I have a dog called Dog.

We had a stray for a while until we found a home for it. Called it Scott, as in Scott-No-Name.

I had a dog called Fourby because he was as thick as a plank of 4 x 2 \.

The again I also had a dog called DOG and another one called Bruce so I'm probably not the best one to be advising.
