Mate its very hard to get to the bottom of this variation in draging a car.. Thats hwy classes and regulations where made. Your points are very valid. Good on ya for saying what you think.

I think if we are going to quote true street cars headlights should be in, air filters should be in ect ect.. But end of the day, ppl invest alot of money supporting ppl and wanting to take records. If this means changing tyres, running race fuel, removing headlights, removing cats then its going to happen... The list goes on.

I think if your going to try and get ppl to take this list serious you need to stipulate some ground rules so ppl actualy have guidelines that they know the bounderies of.

Has somebody here bagged Brads achievement? I hope not, as facts are facts, and the timeslips dont lie.

I merely stated earlier that I wouldn't drive a car on the street with 18psi in the tyres.

For all the people who whould like to know what street trim is, look in your driveway.

For all the people who say they run there cars to the track with lights missing, circuit slicks, no cats, pipes off, race fuel, etc etc things will be fine until

1 - you end up on a wet and twisty road somewhere
2 - you meet a member of a law enforcement agency
3 - you run into your car insurance broker
etc etc

so you end up off the road into a tree with circuit slicks on in the wet, you do realise that your rating one will disappear, along with your policy.

I build street and drag engines every day. Customers are forever asking me what ET there car is capable of. it is almost impossible to guarantee ET, as where do you stop with the "extras" such as headlights, etc. Always quote low, the customer will always be happy.

mph is a different story. a mate I built a turbo supra engine for ran a 12.6 at heathcote at 145mph WITH STREET TYRES (no, not nitto's)

I dont remember anyone bagging Brads achievement - maybe its my fault for not starting another thread regarding what is street trim, etc. But after having raced around the country since i was 18, and having crewed and built the engines for cars totalling over 12 gold andra christmas trees I think I know a little about the sport.

Ask Alex FPVGT about his "other" car. (yeah, the one that runs 12's in STREET trim) There was a link to its run at calder - driving skill played a part here.

Brad has run a fast number in his BA, no doubt. And for that, I shake his hand, I dont need to PM him, i will congratulate him here in the open.

For the people that want to run street trim, run street trim.

Im lucky - my car doesnt have traction problems (wet or dry, sob!) but I am planning on having them real soon. I am looking at some racing tyres today, so when I run the car with racing tyres, you wont hear me quote street trim,

because it isn't. my street trim ET will be the one I quote with the dunlops.

Chris I didn’t know Rod was saying that to you.
Does your business depend on our cars times?
Don’t talk about Dunlop’s you only rang me up yesterday asking if you can use my re-molded street rubber because you wanted to use them on your Ute..
Enough talk a about who should run what, and what we should be running stick to what you know… worry about what you are doing, not what others are doing.
Go do a descent number yourself, then sell your products on your cars back.
This Forum isn’t here to sell or promote sales for you.
We race for fun, end of story.

XA Coupe, WHat Chris has just said is what i was trying to say ... if you guys want to run a list you have to have some ground rules to your list.

Can you start another thread with that in mind? I agree with Chris's last post. Was some valid points

Well done Brad, congrats.

Personally all PB's should be backed up at least twice, three times to be consistent, no one hit wonders especially with some timing errors i have seen in the past

Talking Drags

Guys,
Ya know, there's one thing that this type of talk does and that's fire up everyone. It brings the best out of everyone, me included. I was a novice only 2 months ago, people like Mark and the 2 Rods have inspired me to have the quickest N/A BA XR8. I'm trying from an CAPA edit perspective. Lets bring it on, lets leave the speaking to your feet and back tyres.....and the engine. I almost forgot, Brad top effort..... It's amazing how close all of these BA XR8s are, we're talking tenths of a second here.
