I wonder if Ford could do this in two parts..
First, release new look Falcon this year to combat VF and then roll in the tech changes late next year as a series II |

i have to say that the AU was better than the VT too,
but i'm an australian car fan not a falcon or commodore fan, ford make better cars in my view but i own 2 commodores...why? because my VX wagon looks better than an AU wagon, and the other one was just that it was a 1 owner car and very good condition. my daily drive is a ford (fiesta) 10% because its a ford but 90% because i thought it was the best car for the money there is hype over the VF and most reviews say the falcon is a better performer but feels outdated, i'd take the FG and my plan is to buy one in 2 years time after i pay off the fiesta ford just need to stop talking about the new 2014 falcon and more about how much better the current FG is....maybe!

It was completely uncamoed front to back to my pleasant surprise. Surprisingly though, it had FPV badges front and back although the badges are probably irrelevant as they could easily be swapped back to ford badges.
Could hardly believe my luck seeing this. Many people will probably be surprised it isn't an all new platform after seeing how different to the FG it is. |

Thanks Auslandau and Road_Warrior, I'll take your word for it. Makes me beyond curious to know what it was because it was a stunning looking car.

The Ford lovers will stick with Ford and continue to buy from Ford, with or without the Falcon. Yes, Falcon have been the backbone for Ford in Australia for a long time, but it isn't anymore. The Ranger has overtaken the Falcon as Ford's best selling model in Australia, and Falcon sales have now paled into insignificance. With Ford making big losses from Australian manufacturing and the ever declining Falcon sales that don't look like picking up anytime in the foreseeable future, Ford made the only logical decision there was - to cease manufacturing in Australia, and to kill off the Falcon. There is no way that the directors at the Ford Motor Company would have allowed those losses to continue. That would be doing the company and its shareholders a disservice. If One Ford was to continue with the Falcon as an orphan in Australia, it had to make business sense. If Ford Australia were making money as opposed to losing money, things might have been very different.

After many image searches I'm leaning towards Taurus SHO as the roof line was a significantly longer/flatter looking than the very curved roof line of the up coming Mondeo.
Appologies to all for the false spotting! I just hope the new Falcon has some of the same menace in base model form instead of watering it down and saving ALL the good looks for the premium models. |

Mustang isn't our heritage and it isn't an Australian icon

Mustang may have live axle but not leaf springs.

Next gen Mustang is bringing IRS with alloy control arms anyway, so the Mustang/live axle = crap argument is redundant.

That is why I thought it was the next falcon, the roof line did appear to be very similar to the FG, not like the very rounded roof of the Mondeo. Picture attached is the closest thing I could find to what I saw.
