I got done twice within a few minutes on the way to work one morning. I was starting early so roads were deserted, and I was a bit late so going a bit quick. Cop got me at 70ish in a 50 zone, was decent about it but still gave me a ticket and made me really late.
So as soon as I was out of sight I punched it again lol, 200m up the road he had a mate with another radar gun.... Radio conversation between the two of them was humorous to say the least. Can't remember if that cost me a suspension or not. |

Been caught twice within 2 weeks back in 2006 by the same woman in Coffs for 62 in 50 and 113 in a 100 zone but wasn't fined either time. She said if I ever see you again I'll throw the book at you. She never has!

I was booked by highway patrol at 118km/h in a 80 km/h zone. I was in my VF and gave the V8 a boot full up a hill. At quick glance I was doing 153 km/h in the 80 zone (it came up so quick, its not my daily drive) and when I saw the cop I hit the anchors and thats where the 118 came from.
Yes I was an idiot! Cost me a $220 fine and 2 points. It had been 9 years since my previous fine so he was pretty good to me. |

At 17 years of age the old man lent me the money to buy my Escort on the understanding the first sign of trouble it would be sold. The first set of traffic lights I got to I put my foot down only to get flashed by a camera at the bottom of the hill.
It wasn't even transferred yet so I had to call the, very amused, previous owner, he let me pick up the ticket from his house and then transfer it to my name. I only just plucked up the courage to tell Dad about that last year... It's been ten years or so since I've had a fine. Driving trucks and machinery has slowed me down on the road. I still do a bit of speeding but on track days now. I figure the couple of hundred bucks a year it costs to be a member of the sporting car club with access to tuning days once a month is money well spent.

Caught 3 times, booked once. The time I was booked was 8 over, the other 2 quite a bit more...
IMO if your nice enough about it and don't try to deny it or make excuses they might be more lenient? Either that or just got them on a good day.

G'day all....On this subject if anyone is interested , especially for Victorian AFF that can relate directly...Have a listen to this via your computer...
http://www.broadcastify.com/ ...This allows you to listen for free around all the world.. If you open up the website ..Go to" Listen " then Browse Feeds . You'll find a window to choose country...Pick Australia (of course) and it'll open up the various states.. If you click on Victoria you can select a bunch of different live feeds and the Hume Hwy and Loddon Mallee are particularly good for highway cop actions talking back and forth to the Radio Room...There's Firecom , aircraft , ambo , marine services too...Once you click on a feed the outlet will provide the general coms going on at the time and how many are listening..If it's offline at the time it will show as 'offline'' The cops stuff is about rego/licence/ warnings etc mostly.. In the US..there's a ton of stuff from the cops and firey's ... Try the Victoria one though...it's pretty interesting...No scanner required... Cheers Rod.. I'm in the 10-20 range and had license suspended once for being +25 over.
But I live in Victoriastan and have had at least 8 camera fines for 63-66km/h range. Took me awhile to adjust to no leeway. So 5 legit bookings and 8 small misdemeanors. |

I ran out of points within 6 months of getting my licence, back in 1980. In 1981 I got done for a compression lock up and subsiquent power slide in front of the local seargent, I blew .11. A $70 fine and 3 months suspension for that. After that, I never lost my licence. Yes, I've been pinged from time to time, some legit, some just revenue raising, but never been made to walk in the 35 years since.

done the 12 month good behaviour thing 3 times!
Only been done by 1 speed camera, but at least 20 times by real police. (22 years of driving) And in EVERY case in the middle of no where, no traffic country roads or highway/freeways. Never had a ticket for anything else. ... Never lost my licence though and I usually get caught in the 20 to 25 over range. I always stay around 25 over so as not to lose my licence. How much time do I save by speeding? Plenty, and its well worth it for an average of 1 a year to be travelling at 125 in 100 zones pretty much all the time when no ones around or its on a freeway thats safe. I do about 70,000-80,000 a year. |

Only time I've been dudded was in 1974 by a HWP at Maitland, NSW. Pulled me over for logbook check - no probs (got word he was around). Checked tyres - no probs. Checked clearance lights - no probs. Wanted to see safety triangles. No probs, got them out of the trailer toolbox. "Oops, these triangles don't reflect in Maitland!" says he "What? They're what I was sold at Repco" says I "Well, they don't reflect in Maitland" says he and booked me for not having safety triangles. Hated Maitland ever since, lol.

My last Ticket was a few years back.
7am out the back Of Yackandandah on the way to Falls Creek (middle of nowhere) 120kph round a bend over a rise, and the Cop was sitting down on the flat.. who would have thought but then again ski season revenue. It was special effort for the 96KW Prado too, but no discounts for that..

30 years of driving and I'm in the 10-20 times range.
2 of these speeding tickets came when I was driving ~120kms a day, and the car I was using back in the day had no speedo. I would just adjust my speed with those around me. All the rest came after speed cameras started being used. By this time I had a car with a working speedo and my daily drive was/is only about 35kms. Every fine was for 65-68km in a 60 zone bar one which was me ****ed off one afternoon and I was caught doing 75 in a 60 zone blurting from one roundabout to another in a side street. That one lost me my license for 3 months. Haven't been caught for a few years now......The roads are in such terrible condition I'd damage my cars going too fast. |

I realised after the Maitland episode that it's all a game. After dozens of speeding tickets I can't remember any cop trying to impose the "speed kills" mantra. They know that people speed. Speeders know what happens if they get caught. It's a pretty simple proposition.

Been caught more times than I can remember. My first fine in 88 was doing 87 in a 60 zone. $80 at time and 3 points.
I also got caught in NZ a few years ago doing about 115 in a 100 zone. Cost was $80NZ. What a bargain! That took me back to the 80s right there and then

Caught for speeding 4 times in 34 years of driving.
First, not long after I got by licence was in my XB Fairmont, racing another vehicle - cop said I got one consolation - you won! Second was not long after I had my licence in my XC GS Falcon, only a few k's over. Third was in my P6 LTD, 110 zone, bloke in Commodore was driving slow in front of me (maybe 80kph), I passed him, he then sped up and passed me then went slow, I passed him again, he passed me and went slow again so I passed him and kept the foot in it to put a gap on the dick, got busted for about 120 in a 110. Fourth was in my 68 Mustang GT, first day of the 40K school zone in WA back in about 1998, approached a school and didn't know what 40k's was in MPH so followed a new Falcon thinking they were doing 40, wrong, we both got busted, 4 k's over iirc. Haven't been caught since, cars are Mustang, Falcon XR6's/XR8's and now a TD Grand Cherokee. Doing about 22,000k's/year - just been lucky I guess! |

Second time in 1999. First time I ever had a brand new car (yes company car but still 'mine'). Also the first time I owned a manual. I used to enjoy giving it a squirt from rest and stir the gears before dropping to the speed limit. Clear night but dry and only about a kilometre from home. Just about to grab fourth when there is a flash of light behind me. Did a -U-turn to discover one of those new mobile speed cameras. Clocked at mid 70s in a 60 zone. Third time was driving at Wilsons Promontory in 2000. The drive to the national park is 100km/r. Once one enters the national park the speed limit drops from 100 to 80. As the road in the park is the same quality as the road to the park I continued to drive at about 100. Day sunny and dry conditions. Went around a bend and a nice policeman with a radar gun gets me. Adjusts it to less than 15 over the speed limit - thank you. 2012 was in the far left lane at the lights with a bloke to my right. Need to cross to the right as had to turn right to get on the freeway just past the lights. Light goes green so I accelerate to get in front, the guy next to me thinks I want a race. So he gives it a boot full and I just say **** you and went at it harder still. Got in front of him but in the process passed the lights which had both red light and speed cameras fitted. Done for doing almost 90 in an 80 zone. Dry, clear sunny day. 2013. Approaching Frankston from the north along Frankston-Dandenong Road. Had to cruise control set to 82 km/hr. Just before reaching the railway crossing the speed limit drops from 80 to 60. Disengaged the cruise control and put the car in neutral so let the car wash off speed by itself. Clear day, dry road and nobody behind so just let the car coast along. Problem is the car didn't wash off as much speed as I anticipated so when I passed the lights which are fitted with speed cameras was done doing 64 in a 60 zone. Conclusion: One of the 5 I clearly made a conscious decision to speed. The other 4 I was just unlucky. As to the times where I sped and didn't get caught, well that is another story...........

My last 2 parking tickets in the past year were $108 for a 6 minute overstay and $173 for a loading zone. I had been parked in the loading zone (utes get 30 minutes) for 3 days so it was still cheaper then sydney parking stations considering I had to do a bit of running around at the time also.

Parking inspector tried to do me in the carpark over the road from a licensing centre... I was in swapping some plates over. He demanded to see my new plates so he could issue the fine. Slipped them up my shirt and told him good luck with that one...

I spent half my life working out of a van in the Sydney CBD, it was an endless battle of wits trying to outsmart the parking police, they would chalk your tyres, then I would clean the chalk marks off with WD40, they would come back and chalk them again. After doing this a few times you move the van a foot or so, some times it worked sometimes not, some of them got tricky and put secret chalk marks on the road. When they did that it was time to find a new spot.
I discovered that you could run down the clockwork mechanism in the old style parking meters with a paddle pop stick, that could get you some cheap parking. Once I punched a faulty parking meter in frustration and $10 dropped out of it, better than a poker machine. I have had more parking fines than I can remember, but plenty of cheap parking as well.
