That TX3 had a fair bit of body work done though, the Familia looked completely different.

Hope they dont share the same gearbox fragility though..hehe

Is it the same blue though that Ford said was only for the concepts and shows?

That would be a shame.

It's a great color and Ford really should "own" the color blue.

The Golf R blue looks great, but this one looks better !!!

I think something will have it, maybe just the GT, but I recall reading when they released that Ford Performance banner with the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Raptor, GT350 and GT that it was only for show purposes they were all the same blue.

Yeah does me to believe me. Also that that colour is liquid blue, same colour as the Ford GT. Hopefully its not a concept only.

It is pretty much consistent with what others are reporting about the car. More to come in Geneva.

As if ^^^^

The last one was over 60k.

I wonder if they will do an RS500 version like the last one?

Why should it be $60k? Just like the mustang it's now part of a global release...it should be aimed square at the STI....which IIRC is about 50-52+ORC

It may be a bit cheaper than the previous model but it won't be under 50k. Not with the added cost of AWD, switchable dampers etc.

No way it will be in the 50k bracket. Although I wish it was cause then it might be in my price range.
Also agree re RS500

If it doesn't match or come close to WRX STi & EVO pricing, then I doubt those purists will be testing the ford waters anytime soon.

This will destroy an STi in every way. It's in another league above it.

I'd be keen to see back to back comparison's to prove this.

So now that the Mustang EB and GT prices are out, $45 and $55K + ORC respectively, what's the realistic cost estimate for this?

Surely it can't cost more than the 'hero' Mustang GT?

I reckon it will be pretty line ball...will come down to price, gizmos and styling imo.

Will come down to what Ford decide to determine to be options......

Base model $55,000

And if you want the "good bits" they will be options, and priced like one of Michael Jacksons gloves

Recaro seats $2,700
Metalic paint $1800
Variable torque distribution $ left testicle

Quote:
The Ford Focus RS will again be the bully-boy of the hot-hatch genre, with huge outputs from its 2.3-litre turbo engine confirmed.

To match its lairy exterior, the all-wheel drive Focus RS will make a massive 440Nm between 2000rpm and 4500rpm, with 470Nm available for 15 seconds of full-throttle overboost. The accompanying 257kW will arrive just before the 6800rpm cut-out.

Those figures throw dirt in the face of the suit-and-tie Volkswagen Golf R (221kW/380Nm) and the darling of racing circuits, the 202kW/360Nm Renault Megane RS275.

The Ecoboost engine is a unique adaptation of that in the Ford Mustang, adding a less restrictive air intake, a larger compressor for the twin-scroll turbo and a bigger intercooler. In fact, the RS’s jutted-out nose is needed to house the largest-ever radiator fitted to a Focus, “which provides the level of cooling demanded for intense circuit driving”.

A big bore exhaust, Ford politely says, “helps optimise the balance of back pressure and noise output”. If ever there was a doubt the emphasis would be on the latter, the brand also adds this: “engineers have tuned the RS to deliver a rewarding and sporty sound character during spirited driving, with the distinctive burbles and pops that are a RS signature”.

Ken Block will drive a prototype Ford Focus RS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. Which is fitting because it’s the first Focus RS to get multiple driver-selectable modes including launch control and, um, a Drift Mode that “allows controlled oversteer drifts”.

In addition there are also Normal, Sport and Track modes. Sport makes the throttle more responsive, the exhaust louder and the steering firmer. Track adds a more aggressive all-wheel drive tune with wider slip angles for the stability control and harder suspension damping (that can also be independently selected/deselected).

Its torque vectoring systems allows 70 per cent of drive to be sent to the rear wheels and 100 per cent of that to either side of the car. Ford gives an example of negotiating a hard left-hand bend where the Focus RS would fire 55 per cent of drive to the rear wheels and then 90 per cent of that portion to the outside right wheel that has the most traction.

Nice Waggaclint, lucky you
How was the build quality and finish ?

Were they taking orders, or was it just some sort of promo display ?

Any idea of Euro delivery dates..........

Also, in the flesh is there anything we haven't noticed in the pics to differentiate it from the ST (apart from all the important bits on the inside! )

I mean, different front bar, wing and rear diffuser, bigger calipers, but externally most of the rest seems the same, body, bonnet, lights, quarters,
or are the guards flared more so ???

pics are great, but wish they would do a promo tour with one here.....
