My brothers rich friend used too own maybe one of the toughest HSV's VXII R8 going around. Went through plenty of tyres too. Built this thing into a road V8 supercar. He sold it this year and his brother and him went looking for new cars. This guy is a Holden man and his brother is also.
The guy that had the HSV R8 bought a BFII Typhoon and his brother a VZ Maloo R8 Both manuals.
Before they got into doing them up They were even doot too door.
Now this Typhoon is 380kw and passes you like your not moving. Last week my brother and his friend were in his mates VN Calais V8 my brother was driving it. "was done on a private rd...''his mate said give heaps at the lights so they did, My brothers mate with the F6 came up next too them smiles waved and away into the distance, then the Maloo R8 Ute comes up rumbles and leaves as easy.
Both cars are very even they said.
My brother wouldnt drive his mates car after that.

Before she had done 200km's she was bouncing off the limiter, and yes she is still running fine almost 140,000km's later.

As for correct run in procedure ensuring optimal efficiency, I did Newcastle to Kalkallo which is 20km's short of 1000, so 980km if you failed maths on the one tank. She does a 15.2 flat with only a chip and cat back consistently so certainly no lack in power when compared to cars with more bolt ons and other mods are placed in the equation.

I read this comparison on the XRt forum and as far as I recall both were dissapointed with the R8 and not only on the outright power of the car, so I think the anal pirates need to find a new flag to fly, possibly a white one.

edit : the XR6 is an AU2 VCT by the way
I own a VZ SS and did 1126 kms on one tank (took 73.6L when filled). She does a 14.2 0-400m (easily) with no chip and cat back only. I'd be embarrassed quoting figures like yours. Good to see you put so much faith in a "backyard" test. Look at the figures Motor got, an SS smashed the F6, so I can see how an R8 with "only" 37 more kw would struggle.........Back to the drawing board Mr Ford....maybe twin turbos will give you a chance?

As far as magazine tests. The problem is that the tested cars are provided directly by the manufactures and one of these manufacturers has ACTUALLY BEEN CAUGHT warming up their candidate, not suspected although that has happend meny times but ACTUALLY CAUGHT.

You do a bit of reading of magazine tests over the last five years and see if you can work out who.......

Of course you you will need TWO eyes to read it because one eyed trolls tend to miss these things.
Why has Ford ##edit by SM## neglected to inform the buying public that it does not use the industry standard when quoting power figures. A Ford power figure of 260 kw would actually be only about 252 kw if done correctly. However Ford, in it's infinite wisdom, decides to quote figures using it's own "in-house" test to quote inflated power figures, and treat it's customers like fools.

To XRQTR - "Do you mean to say that you think they will go down to $22K in 3 years time?? They're not a HSV bud, LMFAO."

What I meant is that in 3 years time (when the novated lease expires) I can buy the Typhoon outright for $22k. Plan is to then sell it and move to ????? (something just as hot - maybe hotter?).

I think I may be able to sell the Typhoon easier (if I want) from that 'base' cost than a VE SS or V8 Calais. Plus get a bit of more spare change at the end of the transaction than with the VE's.

Anyone with half a brain, which for argument sake we will assume you have, would know that a V8 is more economical than a 6 on the open road, especially when the V8 no doubt is a 6 speed manual and revs at I think it was 1850@100km/h, the 6@2250. nuff said

Mate you must be an absolute Einstein, my hat off to you, only someone with a brain the size of a pea would be moronic enough to come here and post utter shyte just for the sake of having a laugh. If the R8 had won I bet you would have been here still saying how good it was but because it lost you have to try to prove something that we don't really care about.
