Do you get up and walk across the room to change TV channels on your B&W TV? Does your wife still use a twin tub washing machine with a hand wringer? Do you have to defrost your fridge every 3 months? Do you still have dial up internet? How is the sound on your cassette player? |

I despise what I perceive I can't live without. And sometimes I rebel against that by buying new Falcons to show the world all I care about is going ******* fast.

Suspension and diff bushes and ball joints that last
A transmission cooler that does not leak and make milkshakes Ignition switches that can be fixed when a ten cent spring breaks instead of having to fit a new steering column Seat bases that do not crack and break up Reliable radiators that last more than a few years A strong motor, sharp steering, and good handling do it for me, who needs all these silly gimmicks Who needs electrically warmed seats, your bum does the job in about 2 minutes, what a lot of wooses we have become! We don't live in Siberia

8 Speed Auto would have been good but has been ruled out already too.

There has to be enough difference to satisfy the masses. For people like me who have a nearly 5 year old FG, a EF to EL type upgrade simply won't suffice. I'm not a tech guy. So long as I can play my iPod and have reverse sensors im happy, I understand tho that tech is what sells cars, so I'm sure I'll be happy whatever the upgrades

Edit: the Falcon probably wouldn't seem so dated, if it didn't look it on the inside. A more modern, better-built interior would help a lot. Plus, a few of the little features like keyless entry/start, front sensors, better leather... And (sorry) fix it so the cars don't look like they're tip-toeing. I've always felt the SSV's etc. all looked like more of a complete car, because they do. You look at a Falcon and instantly think it needs tints, lowering, wider wheels, to look as good. Imagine what an FG mk.II XR6t would look like, with all of that, and a more aggressive stance on the factory mk.II turbo wheels? It wouldn't look so povvo, for a start... You know I've read this thread a few times and I've gotta laugh at those that say it's gotta have this, this and that. Do you not all know by now Falcon is not going to be around after 2016, so why put in the effort to get something completely whizz bang and eye popping "to do it justice"? At most you will get a facelifted front, facelifted interior and maybe one gadget at a premium price as an option. That's it. No more, no less. Well, maybe less.

Yes it has a new rear end, I've seen pics of prototypes with both front and rear ends covered.

But it's not for the people that need it, it's for the people that want all the latest gadgets and gizmos in their car so they can show off to their friends and say 'hey look - no hands!'. It's not absolutely necessary to have anything other than a basic shell and all the mechanicals necessary for the car to run. But people aren't going to buy that anymore. It's 2013, not 1900. Cars these days are loaded to the brim with gadgets, whether it is absolutely necessary or not. The Falcon has a lot of catching up to do in that regard.

Well, seeing as I'm a dead cirt' to get an XR8 when they are finally released, Ford have got my money already.
Having said that, digital radio and keyless entry/start as standard. With possibly satnav would be nice. Decent brakes as well and a full sized spare. And obviously a V8 under the bonnet. Either way the last of the V8 Falcons will be living in my garage for many many years to come.

I have no interest in electronic dohickery.
To be honest, its hard to get enthused about the FH, its all a bit too little too late… I am however interested to see what the XR8 comes out with, so; (either optional or standard) DECENT Leather Interior More comfortable seats Better gauges, and generally a dash layout that doesn’t look identical to the poverty pack Wider wheels & tyres Brembo brakes package R-Spec suspension Factory liquid LPG option Adjustable suspension |
