There are 4 Fords that really grabbed me when they first came out
1. 1971-1977 shape Mk 3 Cortina (known as TC/TD in Australia) either in the English GT or E spec with the 2000cc 4 cyl Pinto engine 2. Any model 1972-79 XA-XC Falcon with V8 engine in either 4 door sedan or 2 door coupe 3. Any British Ford Capri manufactured between the late 60's and 1986 my preference being the 1978 Mk 3 S with the 3.0L V6 engine 4. The BA Falcons series in either XR or FPV spec with the GT being the pick of the bunch Other notable mentions....MK3 or Mk4 Zephyr or Zodiac, Mk4 Cortina, EF and EL Falcons. Most other Fords I find pretty ordinary

1. BF/BFII XR and FPV.
2. AU T3. 3. EA Fairmont Ghia Whatever one might think about the EA as a car, I think the EA was a fantastic looking car that looked ahead of its time when it was launched, especially the Fairmont Ghia, with those turbine blade alloy wheels. 3=. EBII Fairmont / EBII Falcon S XR6/XR8 The EB is one of my favourite Falcons to look at. The Fairmont inherited the EA Ghia's good looks with those fancy alloys. XR6 and XR8 look great in white with red bumper inserts, red 4.0i / 5-litre V8 badges, and a rear wing, but without the skirts. 5. FGII all models. Love the exterior, not so keen on the interior. I would've preferred a more European look to the FG interior, similar in design language to the new Fiesta/Focus. 5. NC Fairlane/LTD 6. AU Fairlane/LTD 7. EL Falcon/Fairmont. Not too keen on the EL XR's front end, nor the EL GT, for that matter.

In terms of looks, in my case it's what don't I like.
The best looking Falcon for me is the G6ET. I think it's one of the classiest cars on the road today. The P3 and the 71 Capri are my favourites from yesteryear. For performance, well, the latest GT500 with the blown 351 has that in the bag, and it's the meanest looking of the lot.

if you go to the lincoln website, at the foot of what seems every page there is "copyright" "the year" "ford motor company". there are many mentions of ford credit and other ford items http://www.lincoln.com/ they are the luxury version of ford - to me they are a ford. unlike mazda, jaguar and others that ford owns/owned, they are a branch of ford - not just owned by them the mercury website is the same - many references to ford http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/ i may be totally wrong, but i would not expect so much reference to ford on their websites unless they were a branch of ford Last edited by gtxb67; 07-01-2012 at 09:29 PM. |
