Well my target of a 14.9 second 1/4 mile was not realised today. However my first ever run went 15.876 with a 2.689 60footer due to sitting on the spot from no traction while JonBays sped off into the distance...With the pirelli tyres ripped off and some wider tyres slapped on my times went down to a consistent 15.2 1/4 mile...Then finally XR8UTE offered me some slicks ..well I ran a 60 footer of 2.177 and a 1/4 mile of 15.1 ..

Track temperature was 53 degrees celcius and air temp was 31 degrees celcius.
I got around 20 runs in on the day...and the hi stall was being stalled of speeds of up to 2800 rpm under brakes without a hint of limp home issues ..
When I measure the transmiision line temperatures the were at 100 degrees faranheit.!!!!

Some other big names on our forum smashed pbs while others did not.The unichip and 3.45 diff on JonBays car netted him an improvement of .2 second on the 1/4 mile.

The only issue I had on the day was the lack of power in the second half of the track but the heat did not help.
Also ..the 3.73 diff ratio with my power curve had power peaking at 140 to 145 kmph...this is a bit early...I have 2 options ..change the cam or retard the crap out of the cam so that it has the power it should to rip a 14.9 or better.....Casper you were right on the money!!!

Thats my opinion as well. The track temp today was obscene...

I am sure in some cool and dry mid-winter air the Useless mobile would be quicker again. A 15.1 and is not bad at all for a family/work wagon

The semi-slicks (Dunlop D01J-R) where completely worn out, but still gripped OK.

Good on ya for FINALLY getting to the track. Good results as well. Have you posted a timeslip anywhere? Would be interesting to see a breakdown of the run.

I envy you guys that can get 20 runs in a day. At AIR I got 4, and that was more than most!

It is in the data base guys.I should have got a better time but the edit went on to have shiftpoints at 5100 rpm....used to be 5800-5900 rpm.I dont like the edit and dont like the fact that its untested properly before its release.

Finally the wagon got out on the track, and progressively got faster.. consistant 15.3's then 15.2's and then finally a 15.1, there were a few shockers though..
lol first time out stav just let it rip, and sat on the line frying like crazy, was funny to watch.. with a huge 2.6 60ft :P but at the end of the day 2.17 60ft, 15.1 @ 90mph is awsome.. well done.. and glad i could help lol ;)

Oh, and Stavs Wagon, HELD a Monaro, saw it with my own eyes and couldnt believe it, even the Monaro driver gave Stav the thumbs up!! was a site to see..

and good work to dave - xr8ute, ripping a 14.2 from no where ??? then couldnt do it again.. lol dave came back around and looked at me blankly for a second and said," i just ran a 14.2" pitty about the auto making funny noises now..

and also top effort to jonbays, dropping .2 off his PB.. i have to say that jons car has one of the nicest exhaust notes ive heard on any I6..

all in all it was a very good day, but i think that all times can be improved on, on a cooler day, today was just too bloody hot..
congrats guys..

Well done useless on finally getting the wagon down the 1/4 mile, I think a high 14 is there for the taking with a slightly cooler day.
When you say it was only shifting at 5100rpm were you in drive or manually shifting the auto??

It was in auto mode and manual shifting was impossible due to a transmission mod I did. Before edit ti would shift at 5800-6000 rpm and go quicker so I loaded default ford tune and flicked a switch to about 7 changeover relays and activated the unichip ..then my best run. came..

so your best run was 15.1 with unichip and slicks?

other runs you did were 15.2/15.3 with edit on street tires?

so the edit was .1 to .2s slower than the unichip with slicks?

Mate as far as I am concerned the edit may have well robbed me of a 14 second pass on the day.The last run was the best and then it finished my day for me.

they werent full slicks, they were more like a circuit tyre, or grooved slicks if you will.. and they were pretty average at that, at times useless had trouble with wheelspin with them off line line, and stalling it up on the line sometimes started to do a stand still... but they were better then the street tyres he had..
EDIT or UNICHIP, his car was fairly consistand all day, and was slowly getting faster.. but when you consider his first run was 15.7, and his last run was a 15.1, hes done well, and theres more in the car..
Shifting at 5100rpm really isnt helping the situation either(when it changes gear, the rpms drop below power band), theres a comfortable 15.0 (probably faster) on a cooler day, and revs going right out to 5800rpm..
and a 3in cat stav ;) hahahaha

So whats wrong in the tuning of the edit? Do you run slapper bars or Caltrac bars on the wagon for some extra traction?

LOL, thats because it's a full house drag car with shorter diff gears, a T5 which gets dumped from redline, and rear tyres that stick out of the guards. It's not quite a street car.

My car's neck snapping too......

If I neutral bomb it..

Brendens Car is not quite a Full House Race car, but is definately not a street car. It has been setup for drags thats for sure. But the rear tyres do not stick out the guards!!!! I hate having to point that out. They just fill the guards......................completely.
But even in street trim, it does leave you neck hurting.

Stiddy with the aid of my gtech and some more refinement I will be able to run a much better time if I decide to go back.My Mrs is marvellous about the whole thing and gave me a big hug when I got home...she was a bit scared.

I have talked to my transmission place about making it quicker as they also race at eastern creek and build engines. On 2 dynos my converter has shown no loss in power so It was ruled it out for being redone.I went to mr editor today and must say that the bloke was really good and we ended up raising my rev limiter to 5900 rpm at my request.I could have taken it to 6000 rpm but my car runs standard valves springs.I am reassessing and evaluating every mod at the moment to see where an improvement can be made.

I have worked out that 0-60mph can be based for my car by adding .9 to 1 second to my 660 footer. In winter I was getting flat 7seconds to 6.53 seconds. If this can become repeatable my 1.4 mile times will be very quick..

I much prefer my method

0-100 = circumference of moon / number of gears in gearbox / (rim size in inches * money in the center console)

so today my 0-100 is 40006.6825km / 5speed / (15" * 85 cents) = 6.27 seconds
