Not really cheap Nick but I know the bloke through someone else so I think it could be a bit of mates rates too that helps. He is also known for doing some big custom jobs so I think I will be going wrong with him doing them. Time will tell though. Also I know a few people that paid top dollar if not over the top and ended up with shiit too. So maybe it comes down to who you know as well as how much you pay.

Ah well. Least I know the flange plates should be made as we templated the exhaust last friday. Hopefully once there its comes back quickly. They're going to have a challenge as the XB runs out of rego on Aug 13th. I want it completed prior to that so I can drive it home. I can't afford to pay the reg till the start of Sept. I'm spending the rego money on the extractors!

The plate that bolts to the head needs to be custom to be ideal due to exhaust port position and design. Then Barney will start building from there. You can make a 2V or 4V flange work but since I'm going custom best get it done right. I was told 1 to 1.5 weeks from when its started.

Hey guys, i've just been reading through this thread with interest as i beleive i may be in the need of custom extractors for my XW because of the engine combo im running. I have a 351 windsor with clevo heads so i bought a set of pacemakers not thinking that im not running a standard engine combo. So im wondering now if my paccies will fit or if they can be modified to suit, if not looks like i'll have to go custom. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or know anyone in a similar situation...

Yes Brenx we used adaptor plates on mine but we just a kit already done, all the plates bolts and all for $240.
When I get home tonight or in the morning will post some pics of what he has started already and be going again Friday morning to see how he is going with it.

Brenx as promised:

Adaptor plates on pass side.

And the start of the driv side, fair bit of mucking around to work out best way around steering and to make sure correct length was possible. At this stage the primaries are 31" long and could be cut back around 1.5" if needed and is also possible to add if needed.

Are they 4070s or 4075s? the 4075 have a little more clearance, but with the 1/4" raised ports on my CHIs they're very tight and needed a little clearanceing with torch/hammer/prybar.... so given that 9.2" deck to a 9.5" deck is .050" more than the 1/4" raised ports i'd say yes, the 4075s will kindof fit the XW bay... I can take photos of how mine are clearanced if you need... (getting the pipes hot and breaking both engine mounts and the giving it a few WFO/WOT blasts up the road is not a recommended technique, however it does work!)

Good way to fix alot things there mate. Most likely it would clearance them more than .050" maybe 1" or 2" insted.

Yeah, its was completely unintentional, however I've now got 3/4"ish clearance between number 3's pipe and the steering box.... Doesn't seem to impede the hp much at all though.....

Looks good. Stop making me kick myself. ;) Delays are annoying but I do like the $ staying in my account. It saves me interest(money) on my mortgage

Seen how much standard X-series engine mounts move under 480ftlb lately? when you're on the noise it eats up most of that clearance... i'd rather have clearance and be 5hp down than have a rattly pig

sounds like you need to bolt your mounts together or solid mount the engine!

Engine builder reakons we are looking at 700ftlb upwards so I will be looking at doing something with mounts.

The shaker walks a long way to the drivers side even with a pair of 5/16th countersunk bolts through the drivers side engine mount... (and they're pulled up onto spring washers so they're just free when you drop full engine weight onto the mounts. It just compresses the drivers mount up a tonne instead) Ideally i'd do a Boss429 job on the shock towers or run custom tubes, but given the direction the car will be headed in across the next 6 months theres not much point....

Brenx some more progress pics mate, its a bit slow as he has had a few dramas with other cars and a few break downs to deal with but it looks like its worth waiting for.

For the moment I have to be content with 90/10's and Oztraks (pick up tomorrow morn). I'll ring Hallam tomorrow morning to see if it's happening or I'm being delayed again.

Not sounding to promising there Brenx, hope it all goes well.
But as you most likely know yourself nothing goes to plan.

It'll get there. They always manage to do the job well and it always works. I've never had my car ever come out of their workshop going slow except for one occasion. Which was my fault. I put a convertor that was too small in. Dropped from 4500-3300. oops!

How did you go with Hallam Performance Brenx? were they able to fit you in yet or have you been delayed once again?
What work are they doing to your car? or are they just making new headers for it?
Also what was wrong with old headers or were they just stock ones you had on it?

Old ones = pacemaker 2v 4070 1 3/4" primaies 3" collect dyno @ 550ish hp
New ones custom = 1 7/8" 4V type 3.5" collect. They'll match in size to the one I tested on the dyno to make 590hp.

Car was dropped off on Sat I'll go in when I get time and see if anything is done. Barney was telling me he's had an influx of normal exhaust work over the last few day. It may delay it. I told him I need the car back before the rego runs out.

Brenx believe it I was told the same thing after my car had been there a few days too, but im in no rush at all and would rather it take a few days / week longer and him do it slowly so that I get the best job possible and not a rushed shiit set. Time will tell I guess.

Visited Hallam Performance today. My pipes will start either tomorrow, Monday or Tues latest. Barney is finishing up a 500 cube comaro today or tomorrow then it's onto mine

I asked Barney if I could take some pic's. He said thats fine. I'm not sure if I'll be able to I need to manage to get in there before they are completed. Work and sleep dominates my life ;)
