Your 3000'a will be fine. Mine have done well over 50 runs with big burnouts at the start of each one and are holding up quite well.

Wish I could say the same for mine. I'm sure I had way more tread beforehand. They must be a soft compound or something ??? I'd check but the car's at the panel beaters getting some g/f induced aerodynamic aids fixed...

Keep in mind that doing the staging burnout is optional. You'll get ur tyres ready sooner if you do it(and help ur times) but you don't have to do it.

I'd really like to get some stockies to hammer when I have some spare cash.

cool, so mine should be fine for just one night of madness. Think I'll go sub 15's? by deduction looking at others times / rwkw ect, I'm hoping it may be possible. though I have to confess, I'm no Peter Brock.

Its a good idea to do at least a small burnout each time, simply to get the water off them. If you just drive through you will line up with wet tyres and go nowhere fast.

Automatic/Manual ???

I did a 14.9 on my first ever run with less kw's BUT my car is a manual.

I reckon you should be able to do it given a few goes. Once you start racing you won't wanna stop haha.

Maybe we should arrange a few other NSW guys to come down on the night ??? Maybe set a date ?

With that curve I guess around 14.9 -14.8 ...probably better

Like I said, I did a 14.9 first ever run in my life with only 141rwkw... You got 19rwkw on me....for the moment.

Loxxr6? what happened to your clutch?

I ****ed it. I thought it'd be a fantastic idea to do 3000rpm clutch dumps on a factory clutch - which I think was due for a redo - and I bent the forks on the clutch. I have nfi where exactly the "forks" are(i'm not too mechanically minded) but thats what happened. I did over 12+ runs that day when me and a bunch of guys hired out WSID.

I then retired early with a car that wouldn't grab gears and kept slipping like a bitch. $700 later and I got a heavy duty Daiken(?) unit which seems like it'll take a beating. I'll know soon enough.

Obviously if you do what I did on the day for that many times ur bound to do some damage. Seeing as this car is me and the g/f's only transport I'll be taking it a bit easier this time. I may even suss out some techniques for launching through some of the guys here.....

And today Jim told me what the difference is between the AU1 and later AU VCT engines that let the later ones make more power.

Its the compression ratio.
Wth the VCT head it, due to its design, runs a slightly lower compression ratio. In the later VCT's this was corrected so they got the standard compression ratio. So to fix this I need to get a bit of head work done. Already priced it (and added a port and polish to it too) - basically its the "streetfighter" head work.

Mystery solved.

It's pretty pricey isn't it ? Last quote I got was cheap for the headwork provided I brought the head to them. For them to take it all apart and do it made the price jump quite a bit.

Umm, not sure what price your referring too...I didnt mention the quote. Its just a clean up and minor working of my head, not the full engine.

Its not cheap but its a fair price for what I will get done... just going to take a while .... I've added it to my shopping list.

Unfortunatly with the auto it really isnt going to make a difference. The auto has aggressive ECU torque reduction which is simply holding the car at the 15.0 second mark (or there abouts). Once Chiptorque crack the problem then I'll be in a better position to go quick.

that sounds great,
i just test drove a vct auto ute before, dealership brought it my house to have a spin! felt great for an auto, what diff ratio does a ute have std?

it will have the 3.45 LSD in it. Only thing is the ute doesnt get the IRS.

That was because your MAP was buggered though so it was running way rich. Roughly what L/100km do you get now, casper? I'd expect between 12.5 and 13.5 l / 100km, city and around 9.5-10 highway?

Its hard to tell cause I never do a full tank without caneing it..lots. I have done a few calculations though and I suspect I'm in the 12.0-12.5 city range...maybe a tad less.
Its never had a lengthy highway run to test though so I have no idea.
Generally, with a massive amount of hard driving and peak hour traffic I can easily get 450kms to a tank and have some left (so about 60l) so thats about 13.3l/100kms...and driven hard for most of it.
If I was good I would expect 500kms a tank and maybe 700kms on the freeway.

I suspect it's using less fuel now but I'm driving it harder. Previously due to a fault, I couldn't get it to go over 4000revs, now I regularly take it up to the 5500revs and love the response. Consequently, I have been using more fuel per hundred. Yesterday, I got a front and rear wheel alignment and the car is running even better.

I shall have to do one tank of fuel with normal driving to see what the economy really is. Prior to the JMM fit, I was regularly getting around 500k's per tank (as Casper said, about 60 litres) and upwards of 700k's on the freeway. Now I'm getting around 400k's per tank (mental note- must try to drive economically.)

I can't recommend the AUIII XR6 VCT highly enough. It's an awesome machine. :eclipsee_

Well, on Sat I'll have another dyno reading to compare to the JMM ones. This will be interesting as Hallam performance are generally accepted as reasonably accruate edging onto the optimistic side.
Lets see what the VCT does on yet another dyno.
