Yeap, I've been working 2 jobs to keep my BA Fairmont on the road and every time I sit in the drivers seat and start it up it seems 100% worth it.
I know people who's parents bought them 2-3 year old BMWs but they don't appreciate it, its not THEIR pride and joy. I love having my car and its worth every cent.
I was lucky enough to get mine cheap and it is already payed off but its the greatest feeling walking out to it every morning and knowing that its MINE

Trusty old EF Fairmont Wagon, its a baby only done 320,000k, just run it in, on gas and was cheap and very suitable.

Then I got the go fast bug and now Im building a mk2 Escort 2 door with a turbo'd efi 2 litre to be a track/street car.

The way I see it with my loan is, in another 4 years, i'll own my XR6 fully, that still looks great for its age and then I can work on worrying about getting a house loan with the credit history I have, which is at the moment very good because im ahead on both my loans and credit card is always paid off in quarter the time then expected.

Oh by the way, I drive a 04' BA XR6 5 Speed BluePrint Sedan.
yeah not everybody with newish cars are rich kids!

I work 38 hours a week for little money and do the work of people who earn five times as much but cos I'm a "CADET" I get very little money.

My boss pays his kid more in pocket money than I get in a week and always whinges about "my generation being so spoilt".

90% of us live from paycheck to paycheck. There was a period where my missus was out of work and it was scary not being able to pay bills. I don't know how I'm ever guna buy a house

Thumbs up

When I first got my license I was gifted a damn solid XF Fairmont (no compressor though so windows down on hot days!) by my cousin (thanks man!). The odo's always been stuck at over 347000Ks since I got it, and the fuel gauge lies 95% of the time and sits past full (lol)... Water pump gave up recently though so helped dad replace that, the fan and some oooold split hoses (nightmare drive on the freeway leaking water like a sieve...but that's a tale for another time).

Scored a minor (cough) crash damaged 1990 EA a week ago and we're fixing it up (well Dad is doing most of it over at his place : I don't get much time)...only 59 thou on the clock, hope it runs sweetly! Might post for tips in the EA section

Love the XF though, I was Holden minded before driving anything purely because I thought they were 100% Aussie... ha! Next car will be a BAII XR6T : but need to save $$$!!

Im 19 and Own a 2007 BF xr6 and when i say own i dont mean the bank owns it i mean i own it. Im a sparky and with lots of overtime and working for a big company i paid it off in 6 months, i also get employee discount, no points for guessing who i work for!

Nothing gives me the shits more than people pulling up next to me at the lights and asking when i have to give it back to daddy. i make sure they know its mine with lots of swearing and hand signals

Yeah Im an apprentice 'P' plater with an XR6T. Yeah its on a loan, so what? lol theres plenty of other ways to throw your money away (gambling, smoking etc). Its actually mine and my partners. We are both 24 and work to pay off the car and our new homeloan.

I look pretty young, so some people look at me and probably think I'm driving my dads car, but I couldn't give a crap what they think. Its my car, I work for it, I look after it, and it sits in my garage, and I'm happy as a pig in mud when I drive it! lol

I've got an ED. My mum paid for it and when I move out of home I'll take it with me as a parting gift I guess you could say. It does the thing where the right pedal goes down and the smile comes so I'm not complaining.
