I hate it! I live on a street that has a bend, people alway drive too fast around it... the 31st of Oct send chills down my back everytime I hear and engine rev or a tyre lockup.... It is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

Halloween itself is not an American invention. The practice of going begging for sweets is. I really dont understand it...after all, I thought giving lollies to strange kids was a bad thing. Well, thats what the judge told me...

To all those people that celebrated Halloween this year, will you be celebrating Thanksgiving this November?
How about the 4th of July or President's day?

In the area where i live all of the local businesses get loads of lollies and the kids go around all dressed up. There was hundreds of them yesterday going around everywhere. There was police directing traffic on the street haha.
I work in a bank and a few of them came in all dressed up. I said to one of them who would have been about 12, "Take that mask off, you can't come into a bank with a covered face!" It was hilarious.. he completely thought i was serious and just got that stunned omg i'm in sh!t look on his face lol. They don't cause any harm. In my neighbourhood theres one of the mothers that organizes it all, she puts flyers and a piece of orange ribbon in all of the letterboxes and the idea is if you're welcoming the trick or treaters, tie the orange ribbon to the fence so the kids know its ok to go there. I thought it was a good idea and considerate of those who don't want to be bothered with it. |

I've never had the pleasure of anywhere I've lived have kids trick or treating us, either that means the kid's cant be stuffed or we're all tight....
Having said that though, if I got a knock at the door after tea time would mean I would have to get off the couch to answer it= too hard basket |

Does anyone here remember cracker night in brisbane? I think it may have originated with Guy Fawkes night but every year letterboxes went boom and we all saved up our money to buy crackers, double bangers and fizzers and, the ultimate, a catherine wheel.
Never remember anyone getting hurt. Wuz kids had to settle for sparklers. Built a watertight letterbox out of eighth plate steel in high school to stop it getting blown up (filled it with water so the fuses went out when the crackers were dropped in). Never remember halloween, tho. |

If it had of been the XR8 I would of taken to the streets with Weapons Had knocks at the door this year, first time ever.. Seriously what the hell is going on. Grrr my Festiva got egged... I feel the rage surfacing again |

As a youngin I recall going out 3 or 4 years in a row.
We got all kinds of things - fruit, dog biscuits, money, lectures & a few lollies here & there. From a safety point there's no way in hell my daughter will ever be doing it. I'm not over protective, she's just not doing anything I ever did. |

They might be kids but they're annoying, Hell, I'm still a kid (17 years old) but I never done any of that crap, in fact, I actually hate little kids. I'm going to be one of those old 70 year old men who sits on their front lawn waiting to yell at kids for stepping on my property.

I hope this thread dosn't go down that path though - my post was pointing out that its silly for parents to let their kids go knocking on complete strangers doors even if supervised (like the poor kid above).
