It's the same with bi-modal or active exhaust systems, the default mode on startup is the setting that helps pass the noise emission test. Anyone who has driven a 2018+ Mustang in track mode will know it would unlikely pass with the amount of volume those have.

Can not believe even now, restorers/modifiers want to stick these things in instead of the original ones.

The opening lines of a 'road test review' by Carsales.com.au .............
When you unlock the doors and get into the 2023 GWM Ora Lightning Cat you are greeted at start-up by a sequence of cartoon cats complete with meows, which is surprisingly cute. Nudge, nudge , say no more. (sigh) |

Yep the covid rig has become ubiquitous. For fun, have a look at the share price of ARB a) during lockdowns and free stimulus money and b) after stimulus ended

Electricity as fuel needs to die.
Why can't they build an LPG generator? They can still use AC motors as driveline. Smart headlights need to die Some new cars on the road blind my eyes. They should stop making them brighter each year. Over engineered technology in cars needs to die(just because they can) Make cars simple. Less electronics. |

Vegan leather. If it's vegan, then it sure as hell ain't leather. Just call it what it is, vinyl, and not try to claim it's some kind of leather so you can charge extra for it to suck extra dollars out of hippies.

But it wouldn't be the first time a car manufacturer has called something it isn't, right? How about the 'leather' in our late model Falcons, for eg? Certainly not what came off the animal.

Tesla started it and Genesis (Hyundai) has followed.
Can we stop this before it becomes a thing? I have found these are really difficult to open one handed and sometimes I only have one hand free. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...g?v=1571745052

The last point is good though - less electronics. If there were less electronics the semiconductor shortage would not have hammered the industry as hard.
It would remove vulnerability in the production chain. I watched the launch of the new Defender and the engineer mentioned with pride it had more than 80 computers in it and I thought "Well, they are not serious about winning the bush reliability test in Australia, then." Check the switchgear in the Ineos Grenadier in contrast - that will last and perform it's function when most new cars will be scrap. And you can re-wire it yourself in the field. That's the future.

Don't kid yourself, the Grenadier is not a horse and cart vehicle, it's got complex electronics as well. It's also powered by a BMW diesel engine, not exactly a legacy engine.

Might have decline a Chinese Cummins and considering being basically a Landrover body which had connections to BMW in the past.

Get rid of all buttons I say. All I want is an indicator stalk and manual wipers. The rest can go. When I jump into my GTF, I'm greet with that centre stack of buttons! Buttons I've never used my entire ownership as any changes I make, I try to do on the screen first.
The Mustang steering wheel buttons are another head scratcher. Literally every feature is a button on the steering and you can't just get to one easily like on the GTF with its simple steering buttons. Less is more! Enabling the Cruise and then setting it is a pain on the Mustang. GET RID OF BUTTONS!
