If someone wanted to car jack me, Id just get out of the car and let them take it, all yours bro.

Then open up a thread for PTE 6466 Gen 2 vs EFR 8374 and ask for your advice while I wait for insurance spondoolies to come through to buy my new FG XR6T ute

The kangaroos around here haven't militarised yet and still do the 'oh look a car, I might hop towards it/away from it/towards it/away...hey look a fence...what's that silver moving thing again? Mmmm grass nom nom nom' sort-of thing.

Once they start gathering in numbers in places I slow down I'll start locking the doors

FG has an option that when you start rolling after getting in, all the doors lock automatically.

I have that feature selected.

It's funny, driving a fuel tanker. When there is an increased security threat, you are advised to lock the doors. Doesn't matter you are driving a bomb on wheels. Lock the door, you will be fine.

When I was a kid i'm pretty sure there was a tyre iron under the driver seat, but pretty sure it only ever got used for flat tyres.

My doors lock when I drive off and i've never run into any trouble. Once picking the girl up from her work (a hospital) a little old lady tried hopping into my car, but in her defence, a silver G6E, like many of the taxis in Brisbane.

I've had the odd road rager, mostly they just tailgate a bit and honk their horn as they do a near miss pass. Worst I had was a truck driver fly up behind me on the highway (I was sitting on 100, he must have been doing 150+), flashing his high beams, honking his horn, then as he overtook me he swerved towards me to run me off the road.

Don't think a tyre iron was going to help there.

No problems with a ford ute the jack, handle and wheel brace are all stored unrestrained behind the seat its been that way since early 1900's when the first ute appeared and ford saw no need to change anything right up to the last one built. Wheel brace within reach and its factory fitted so no rozzer can argue.

Challenge them to a game of horseshoe pitching?

I too don't get why people feel the need to protect themselves with weapons.

maybe your old school, in the old days if people had a problem with one another, there could be a scuffle, little bit of biffo and its all over. whats with carrying knives and stuff?
many years ago i was attacked by a guy with a weapon, after a a few strikes of his weapon to me, self preservation kicked in for me and i took the baseball bat off him. one second it was in his hands , the next,it was in mine. and im no tough guy.
has anyone hear used there weapon? or is it all fluffy talk.

Hello,

I think for many it will be peace of mind. There are many deranged people, and on drugs like Ice. Best option is to get away. The Video I linked shows how some are nut jobs, and even getting away may not be easy. If you are in traffic, you may not be able to drive away. I wonder what the Navara driver would have done if the Mazda stopped ?

Personally I feel like carry a gun, knife or any of the sort in my car to help protect me would be pointless. Being the person I am (a normal human being!) I'm certain I would definitely hesitate to use a weapon on someone attacking me and in that few seconds I hesitate they probably would be able to get the weapon off me. In which case they now have a weapon to use on me and would probably be in an extremely aggravated state and not really in the mood to let me get out of it unharmed.

At the end of the day the cars just a material possession to me, and sure I like it but insurance will get me another. If I ever found myself in that situation I'd firstly try and floor it away, but if that's not possible I'll happily step out and let them take the car. The only time I'd actually try to directly have a physical confrontation with any of the people we're talking about here is if I had my gf, wife, kids or someone in the car with me and was afraid for their safety. In which case it'd be more of an act of desperation from me rather than a calculated self defense plan.

Also to the guy with the 50 cal desert eagle. North Korea also reckons they have nuclear warheads that could wipe out the western world. Pics or it never happened mate

You carry your wife and your girlfriend in the car...at the same time???

If I still had a wife and tried that with my partner i would have no knackers...

...actually it would be ok now, but in 2007, you know what I mean.

Kudos to you good sir

(I'd actually let them have my Ex)
