in my experience fords like my old GL arent built to take a thrashing.. i hardly thrashed that car, i never did a burnout or anything like that.. and on a hot day.. the injectors wouldnt run properly and at idle.. it would sit at about 400RPM and jsut rock.. meh whoe knows.. but the newer holdens i wouldnt thrash.. thats stupid coz they arent meant to be thrashed.. could probably say the same about fords too though.. save for v8's oooh yeah.. if i had to chose between a SS or SV8 and an XR8... id go for the XR hands down.. mainly coz it has the v8 sound to it.. the holdens have too much keeping them quiet, i mean why else do you get a v8 if not for the VROOOM and the sound it makes at high revvs.. seriously!! holden wake up!!!!!! Noone wants to buy a V8 that sounds like a 6, especially ESPECIALLY with todays petrol prices..

VTSPAK: You made some fair points there, but you also made some bad ones. As has been said, idiots are idiots no matter what they drive, it just seems that there are more VP/VN P platers out there who drive irresponsibly who give the rest of the red army a bad name.
I won't say that I have never driven irresponsibly, There have been occasions when I have driven mum's Hyundai like an absolute fool... but that is a problem which I need to sort out before I kill myself, or worse someone else. Its just that sheer numbers tarnish the holden name. I hope that makes sense... I need to go back to bed... : : : :sm_drool: :

BTW when a d!ckhead in a holden just about writes you off, cut in front making you test the stopping power of your brakes, comes sideways around a corner making you swerve to miss, come out of a park in reverse nearly taking out you whole left side of your car just about everyday, you tend to have a disliking to all that own or drive a holden. you guys(holden) think not all of you are like that....Bullsh!t the only time i have seen a holden being driven sensibly was by an 80yo lady!

Heap Of Losers Dying Entertaining kNobs But yes, sadly it's not the cars themselves, but the drivers, and idiot drivers drive all sorts of cars - not just Holdens or Fords. Having said that, it's rather entertaining to see how many of the local Holden boys want to give me a run when they pull up next to me at the lights and seem to think they're proving something when they "beat" a stock auto XF GL - doesn't seem to matter that I don't even try, they see a Falcon with P plates and seem to think that means I'll give them a run. The funny thing is, these same guys never even tried back when I was driving the Escort when they lined up next to me - either they thought it would be too easy, or they know the Escort was fairly quick off the line... I suspect it's because they underestimated the Escort...

Well .. I know of about 4000 "unstable" Ford drivers in Victoria.
http://www.victaxi.com.au/ (4300 vehicles; I'd estimate about 4000 are Falcons?) So, are we still going to persist stereotyping people based on the badge on the car they are driving? .. except for Korean-built little boxes? People driving them obviously don't care what they drive so have no respect for anyone else!!! |

Ah.. but they're driving Fords for a reason... they're the only vehicle available to them that can put up with the abuse, and do the miles required :P

I think that age is more the contributing factor here, as opposed to Ford or Holden. I am in the Fire Brigade, and we occasionally get bulletins about road statistics and these mention that 18 to 25 year old males as most likely to be involved in an accident.....nothing about the car. Maybe commodores are more affordable, people may think they look/go better, who knows. Maybe ford drivers notice commodores more because they are "The Enemy", and vice versa. I was in the 18 to 25 year old bracket a long time ago, and my mates and I had Holdens, Fords, Chryslers, Datsuns and WE were idiots then too.... Its amazing that as you get older the need to impress the opposition lessens ing_sm

some of you guys should come over to adelaide and cruise around on a friday nite for a few hours.... see how often a commodore driver wants a race....
two weeks ago on a saturday nite i was driving home from a nite out playing pool. my wife was in the front passenger seat and a fellow forum member was in my back seat. not 5mins from the pool place, i was driving along, about 10k's under the 60 kmh limit, when a vn comes up beside me, slows down to my speed, and starts revving his motor... so i ignored him, kept cruising along at 50. he keeps at it, so i slip in to nuetral and rev it on the limiter for a few seconds, and point and laugh at him.... so he starts swerving into my lane, trying to hit my car. then he leans out and punches my front passenger window (where my wife is)..... so i pull over, they pull over, jump out of their car and run towards my car, so i take off and call the cops. the cops asked me why they were chasing me and why did he punch my window, my reply "because i wouldnt race him" yes, just another night on the streets of adelaide...... as for RCK, ("Ragerz Commodore Klub" no crap, thats how they spell it) i've seen their cruises, one group of people i will NEVER cruise with. |

To get this in perspective for you in the future Running Red Lights = Stupid Drifting on Public Roads = Stupid Contradicting yourself twice on a single post = Stupid RCK gets the attention and is labelled as a club full of hoons because it markets itself in this fashion. In SA the reason behind thousands of morons in commodores is because there are more commodores sold in SA then almost any other vehicle. So you capture a larger percentage of the General Population, who IMO are mostly made up of mouth breathers, nose gold miners and cretins who should not be operating a 12 volt remote control car, let alone a full sized vehicle.

[QUOTE=MITCHAY]I think the Holden crowd have got the VL and VN group to thank for the bad rep. [QUOTE]
totally agrre with u there, there always out to prove that their VN 6 can beat anything on the road, i agree the not bad off the line after second they have nothing, and cos of this they have 2 run everythig, and in werribee, where 90% of the population owns a vn, there hooining everywhere i know manny people who drive the hq-hz. vr vs vt vx, and i can have a civilised converstaion, wth all of them, but a vl,vn, owner, i canot, they just waft sooo much crap. bout how good they are, and this reflects their driving habbits, they think there v8 supercars

I pretend to be trying when its only the clutch in. Nice work loosers!!! They think they must have bigger d**ks because of an extra 2 cylinders. I love my commodores but damn i know they aint the be all and end all of cars especially VNs. Some of them take it a bit too far sometimes and then will give you constant road rage until i drop the gear and take off around a roundabout and then im quite happy with them sliding out up a gutter. Im quite happy knowing im driving a more refined vehicle than theirs and thats all that matters to me. |

The best thing to do is when you know where speed cameras are. You go for it a lil bit then slightly drop of, pull in behind them and watch them get f**ked lol. Its so funny. Just because they thought they had to prove a point they get fined. So now they havent proved anything and have also got a fine bahahhaa

Problem is disrespect flows both ways. I've got respect for a decent car no matter what badge it has.
I've had some rather unsavoury comments made by Holden owners (well LS1 owners mostly). Can't see what the problem is?? I've had comments quite a few times while sitting there at the lights. I've caught up with these owners at the strip and via the internet. Where they were chatting etc. Their disrespect soon changes when they find out about the car. As it's quite well known (well the old chassis is). For some reason they think beacuse I own a modified vehicle, I have to race off every set of lights? WTF?!?! I don't have to prove anything to anyone but myself. I know it's fast and getting faster. Anyone who doesn't like it? They can catch me if they can? If I'm on the street? I'm only out for a cruise. [edit]I've looked at owners ages too. Age doesn't seem to have any bearing.
