I'm going to hold out on that advice as well. Being blue blooded I'm sure I'll warm to it like I did with my AU XR8 but it's not really the point. I just wish their design team did a better integration job in the first place.

As mentioned before the key is not the highend or performance models anyway. It's the cooking models like the XT's that will make the majority of sales and the new look is working best on those. Add the 10.2lts claim of fuel consumption and the 6 spped auto and i think Ford have done everything they could do in that regards. I think most of the photo's I've seen really show the old AU carry over (doors & roofline) shape. It was bad back in 98 but it's a real battle now to overlook that now.

The XT and the XR6 NA pretty much sell 1 to 1 with the XT beating the XR6 by a couple of hunder units.

I'm not a fan of the AU and it still hasn't warmed on me. But I liked the BFII when I first saw it up close.

Fuel economy is heading in the right direction..It will be class leading or very close to it. Wait and see what Toyota Aurion is quoted at.

I read a while back that VE had gained 100kgs over VZ but Holden claimed it was due to additional safty features and strengthening. Ummmm actually I think it has a whole lot more to do with the new rear suspension. That would be the SAME suspension that Ford have had since day one of the BA.

I still would like to see some weight being save somewhere on future models...presents a real opportunity for improvement for Ford I think

Its not the same suspension that Ford use, however if they added extra safety features and strengthening so you would expect a weight increase they couldnt escape it.
From the pics of BF I have seen elsewhere on internet it does not look good. WTF have they done to an already good looking car? Should be looking to improve it, not give it a dose of da je vu!

Would love to see a BFII Ghia V8 Supercar..

Does anyone find that perversely interesting?

Ghia verse Calais? Just the exterior on a V8 supercar..

****, could be a whole new racing class. Emphasis on class. Maybe Ghia and Calais owners could be given tickets to races in there state.

What would be the point in that, Fairmont Ghia's and racing shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence. The current BA V8 supercar was styled along with the BA FPV range, therefore buyers can see a visual link between the v8s on track and the performance models in the Ford range. Ill admit though the new Fairmont Ghia lights are quite aggressive and should be implemented on an FPV vehicle as well as the V8 supercars. The Fairmont Ghia is a great car, it should be battling BMW 5 series in comparisons, not racing on the track against wheelarches.

Whats the point of the V8Brute series.. Utes are made to carry loads and such..

The point is that there is certainly a move towards "sports luxury". Like I said I find the idea amusing if completely impractical. But why not prove the sports of sports luxury. Perhaps a Photoshop would be funny enough...

For me tho the BF Fairmont Ghia is the prettier, cleaner car. No doubt for Orion they will return to cleaner lines given a fresh canvas.

The v8brutes are based on the XR8 utes and SS utes, still performance based.

Fairmont Ghia has XR suspension (+10mm) and the Calais has run everything from SS to regular suspension althought FE1.5 is supposed to be the pick of any holden anyway. They use the same engine as sportier models atleast in the past (Fairmont XR8/XR6 engines) Calais (SS tune engines).. You used to be able to spec HSV engines in Calais pre VT.

But why have a V8brute series when we have V8 Supercars. ??

I still think it would be a interesting concept. I doubt it will fly.

Its as realistic as the Ghia getting the turbo donk... If it happened the stars would fall from the sky and the ground would open up to swallow us all.

I am please with the look of the new BFII, it is enought to set it apart for new private car buyers but doesnt make a huge change from the BA/BF so all the ex-fleet cars still look up to date.

The new front imitates the dropped eye look of the XR

Anyone got any half decent pics with the car actually shining? I hate those crappy pre-release Ford photos where the car is in ###### light, from weird angles. You can't make a good judgement.

I'm just hoping it's not as bad as it looks in those pictures, in the flesh.

Are there any pictures of XR's yet as well? I know they are unchanged but there should be SOME cosmetic changes when the rest of the range is seeing major bodywork.

funny this MKII article stayed in here, while the other 2 were moved to a subforum which doesn't get as much traffic.

Fine. Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like.

Sorry guys : but I will be waiting for the next model. This is what appears to be an end of body run out, nothing really new. Ghia for instance...left over XR parts on skirts and rear bumper. Fairlane interia parts and external badges. Cheap looking chunky grill. However do like the dropped bumper under the headlights.
All other updates are at customers expense ie 6 speed across the range and all that.
This is an upgrade on a budget....the $$$ are going into the next model not this one..

I'm seeing more and more BFII's and they look great. The pics so make the car look out of proportion. It was funny seeing an XT with a 6sp transmission in it!

But the Ghia's look great and XT so doesn't look like a povo pack model until you see the interior.

I've had two BA XRs (Mk1 & Mk2) and then a Ghia 3v. I won't be buying a BF Mk2 Ghia that looks like it has left over BA XR parts on it. If I wanted another XR I would have bought one. I think they have this one wrong.

And still no word on whether there will be a LWB BF2
The E gas is supposedly available to the whole range now (except the 8's and probably turbo's).

Oh, and I love the new look of BF2. I think ford have a real contender here and being a proven design, with better standard equipment levels and better fuel economy, I think ford can really serve it up to the lion of Korea.
