Hahahaha, no I'm not. It just seems like a bit too much for that car knowing its history. As someone else said, you can get an ex-demo for the same money.
Would this car still have its full warranty and everything considering it didn't leave the dealers doors and was a stat write off? |

No. Warranty is void the moment a car is written off.

So this car simply is just not worth it, unless you pick it up for less than $30,000 and even then you will think twice about it.

Who would buy a car this expensive through Gumtree anyway? I wouldn't.
And hopefully Carsales is more reputable and has methods to filter out these unscrupulous sellers. |

Shame you cant ask questions that show up on screen like they do on ebay. Who would buy a car for that price without doing the usual checks and inspections.

It's already been clarified by others that there is no longer any story in the Gumtree ad and I did not see the prior version.

It's worth a lot more than $30k. You nudge $30k buying these things as wrecks.
It's still worth decent money, not $65k though. I would want a full journal on the repair and all that. Even then you don't know the quality of the paint prep, could start peeling in one summer or last longer than the factory job. Many factors to consider. The warranty itself not being present would knock a few $$$ off it. Honesty is the best policy. If the seller was honest about the car and what it was to what it took to get it back on the road, someone a bit wary of a car like this but interested in buying a near new GT may still consider it as an option. Yaomean. |

I very seriously doubt that the refinish paint would be better than Fords

Are you 100% sure about that. My BA XR8 was a repairable write off, and I got lots of stuff done under the standard 3 year warranty, timing chain tensioners, door seal, door actuator

I sent him an email with the Manheim link and offered him $30K
Got an email back stating that it cost him $51K to get it on the road so no, he wouldn't accept $30K

Realistically, with the amount that would have been invested in the vehicle before it went for its VIV inspection, the owner would have been stupid to not make sure it was repaired right. As others have said, honesty is the real point of this thread. Hopefully the seller is up front with anyone interested. |

I totally agree with you on this. I'm sick of reading or being told one thing and when I turn up it is total opposite. It really ****** me off and that's what I hate about this. Just say it straight out in the add what the car actually is.

I cant see why it would be worth much less than any other low km GTP that has been tuned and lost the factory warranty...probably around high 40s, with warranty, low kms MK2 only mid 50s these days.

I just had a look. GT can be had for $61k as a demo. Wouldn't touch this at $65k.
He got ripped spending $51k on the car and repairs. That's about what it's worth. Waste of his time but someone will fall for his "bumper damaged on test drive" story, pay the premium and get stuck with it. |

I didn't assume anything and I commented on what had been posted. My point was that previous posters were making reference to the sellers "fake story" but when I saw the Gumtree ad it had been amended and there was no "story".That's why I asked what fake story they were referring to and that was clarifed by several others about 4 hours before you chimed in.Simple.
