The 3V they would be on about would be the 4.6 3V (unless its an F series discussion) which is the current Mustang engine (excluding the 5.4 quad cam specials).

Before that there was a 2V 4.6 that was slower than the outgoing 5.0L windsor. And they didnt develop them like we did with the 200 & 220kw versions, we're still talking roughly 170kw output.

These "little" 3 valve's are awesome with the right mods, anyone who say's otherwise hasnt been in one with 12 second passes under its belt.

The fact they didnt sell probly has something to do with how restricted they were in stock form, having said that boss 260's aint that exciting in stock form.

They are in the past now as far as ford aus is concerned, but the people who have bought them over the years certainly wouldnt regret it.

Powdered Toast Man,mine is an october 02 and didnt have lsd out of the factory, pretty sure it has never been an option on them, mine has lsd now with 4:10's and it is like a new car.

But they weighed under 1400kg. Most 5.0l equipped mustangs were capable of low 14 sec passes even with the little development, a sub 13 from the cobra r too (but with a 351 windsor..) still its a matter of the right motor for the right car.

Compared to the falcon xr8 (BA was 1797kg's, Au was 1530kg's) its still a massive power to weight difference.

I think with the other topic of ford canning the boss on the F150's (other than the super duty) we will be seeing soon another motor powering the f series soon, which we more than likely will be having in our aussie falcons.

Yep, and thats why I want a Fox Mustang. Low power and low wieght still results in mid 6 sec 0-100 :

Power to weight is actually the other way around but the Stang is faster due to almost equal torque per weight I'd say. And maybe better gearing?
Std BA 3V is approx 7.9kg/kw and 3.7kg/Nm (0-100 5spd approx 7.5 sec)
'87 Fox Mustang is about 8.4kg/kw and 3.5kg/Nm (0-100 5spd approx 6.5 sec)
Just using general numbers off my head of 1750kg, 220kw, 470Nm for the BA and 1300kg, 155kw (205Hp) and 375Nm (275Ft-Lp) for the '93 Mustang ('87 figures may have been inflated slightly).

I do want to go back to a windsor myself but I am growing to love my BA, I thought it was a heavy boring car a year ago and wanted to get rid of it. I mean it still is heavy and boring, but its also comfortable, reliable and easy to drive.

I have always loved the effortless torque the 3V has around town ever since I bought it though. I have never driven a 351C but I imagine it's what they would be like.
