I wanna see people parading that the E series are dumped, scrapped at alarming rates,or that new breed of muscle cars depreciate that much that in 5,10 years they will be affordable that those with new full licence buy cheap and flog hard .... So for 40 years this bloke had this garden ornament, and probably put life and family first ,shock horror someone who had priorities in life ..... Maybe he was one of those "One day " and finally realised that "one day" came and went People carry on about old cars how they are disappearing, but they are getting crushed daily, yet no one stops it |

anyone else spot that it's stamped JC instead of JG on the radiator support?
yeh i did, even the last numbers don't look legit i emailed the gt club of australia to see if they can help me out if it's genuine or not. i reckon the clown seen jc33 and thought genuine gt going buy he's answers to the bidders questions i doubt it. one person even ask if he can have a look since he's local guess what the seller said no his reply, it's unfair to others just that smells a rat do you know it's a criminal offence to sell a non genuine gt as the real thing. i've been down that road 20yrs ago when i was looking at buy a xy gt similar to this not as bad the xr, he was asking 5 g's for it until i looked further into the car it was a restamp body. |

There's no such thing as JC anyhow.. JG, with the G meaning Broadmeadows, the GM is Nov 67.. Be interesting what the GT club comes back with?
The shifter hump and the steering column looks correct. Also be good to see under the hump.. I think the floor was just gas axed?

I can't see the car is genuine. He won't allow inspections.
No drive train - no matching numbers. What is immaculate, restored, non matching number XR GT worth? $40K? There can't be an economic argument for restoration, can there? (prices will have to go up to justify). |

I have no interest in restoring cars be they GT or otherwise but man you would have to be super keen to want this pile of poo.
Whether its genuine or not who knows, but back in 67 every GT would have been supplied with all normal GT cosmetics and although its a bit ragged I can't see the GT badge clip holes on the right rear boot or rear window sill nor the badge that was on the dash ???? The badge is on the dash where its meant to be.
Open the pictures with the enlarged view. You can even see that the car is gold in the inner door jams. I have no doubt the car is a genuine GT. The seller is being a bit of a knob with not letting people inspect it , but you only have to look at the amount of "experts" that are actually KAAFA's that have appeared in this thread. Who would want people like that at your place? |

I stand corrected but shouldn't there be a V289 type badge next to the dials on the dash.
Also as far as I know Ford didn't use stick on type badges back then so going by other rust etc there should be some rather large rusted badge holes on the rear window side sill and boot. But I guess if it really is a GT, before and after restore pics would certainly gain some admiration even from me |

By advertising it as unreclaimable he is probably just covering himself and possibly trying to weed out some of the amateurs and judging by the questions you can see why. If I was a buyer I would certainly like to see it first but consider he has a 100% positive feedback score. Would you be giving out the address of this item to just anyone?

Well you could ask for log books and check if jc33 where noted or the first rego RTA dated 1967 then to be 100% sure. imo i would not touch it without proof.

Imagine how many untrained tools would front up for inspections if they were available
Youd spent all day hearing all the tall stories from those whos dad had one of those rare 6 pot GTs,or their cousins, uncles, brothers ,nephews granddad who bought one from new with a rare 351 ...... If your genuine and the seller is playing hard ball, youd either look into it with as mentioned a GT club,or get some more info I wonder IF the winning bidder turns up for the collection and cancels the sale |

So what happens when the winning bidder goes to collect his prize and the car falls in half ? As much as I love the old Henry's the rust does love them, The plenum chamber is a perfectly good place to start.. Seriously expensive project..

Lots of naysayers here, how about some encouragement for someone who wants to bring the old girl back to life.

I once knew someone who rebuilt a car with nothing but an rusty ignition key to start with.....
This'll be a snap....

Just ridiculous..
I wouldn't take that heap of rubbish if it were free.. For the price it's going for could buy b series xt in top condition or au3 220 xr8 that will flog it even after its been restored. For the amount that people have bid it's proof there is one born everyday. |

I thought Hulk was banned from commenting on anything to do with <MY2002??
That is no doubt a crap load of work but a car worth doing, people spen more doing up a Falcon 500! Good Luck to whoever gets it, such an elegant GT.
