They would also ask why the victim’s life should somehow be less worthy because the timber fell from a car when there are laws to prevent this sort of thing happening with heavy vehicles. When something like this happens, it’ll wake a few people up.

i know of a guy that years ago did some silly stuff, he was towing his EH on a trailer behind an f100 (no problem there) except that he didnt have any thing to tie the EH down with so he got a mate to sit in the EH and hold his foot on the brakes while ducking down out of site. This was alright till they went around a corner and the EH flew off the back of the trailer

Here's one I took Christmas morning in Serbia a couple of years ago. The tradition is to go out Christmas morning and chop the Christmas tree down from in the forest.
Then you figure out how to load it onto a trailer, whilst drinking rakija. Here is the net result - I didn't ride anywhere near that car!

i also used to work in a timber yard at the local bunnings. we were always told never to tie down any load as the responsibility fell back to us it it came off.
one story about dangerous loads or stupid loads, was 2 guys who had no idea what they were doing. grabbed a 6mtr length of 190x45 treated pine for a pergola. the hired a trailer because it was too big for their camry. they then proceded to feed it in between the seats of the car and tie it to the trailer. i had to inform them that as soon as they turned a corner, it would have torn out the seats and gone through the cd stacker they had in the back. there response... "thanks mate, its not even our car, we borrowed it from a friend"

gsg2503, from memory I think it is. They are an interesting car that's for sure.
The body style didn't change much as they got newer, if at all, but they received more modern motors and interiors. According to wikipedia - The first vehicles built in the plant by the company were Ford trucks for the Yugoslav army! |

Was in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. In the middle of nowhere...
A car crossed our path, was an old white Russian sedan that looked 'odd' lol... The rear doors were totally removed.... across the back seat area, and nicely balanced and stacked was a stack of timber measuring around 6-7 metres long.... 2.5m protruding out each side of the car lol... Seeing as we are on the topic, I will dig up and post some pics from my travels... what is illegal here is the norm OS lol. |

Ok this is a bit old guys, lets give the debate on legalities and responsibilities a rest.
I started this thread as I saw something stupid and thought it would be a bit of fun to hear other stories and maybe see some pics. If we can't keep it that way without legal advice and debate, then can the mods and admin please close it.

Gold! They don't do things by halves in Laos do they. Got a chance to reprimand/assist a customer today, overloaded his 4wd with ply sheets. So informed him we have a delivery service and there you go, he organized delivery and off he went! Score.

having lunch at agnes waters today and some woman walks past with a long surf board, few minutes later she comes back in her car, (brand new corolla) with the back door windows down and the surf board poking about 2 feet out both sides of car. stops and picks up young girl (about 4 years old) the poor kid had to sqeeze into the back seat and lay under the board.
next thing she drives out the one way street the wrong way and off out of sight driving up the wrong side of the street. couple of more minutes and shes back and picks up her hubby and son , son squeezes into the back seat and sits with his head just sticking up above the surf board. again back out the one way street the wrong way and off up the road still with the surf board poking out the sides of the car. holiday season in the tourist towns are a good time to stay off the streets.
