In all honesty, If you prefer not to vote, as mentioned before, you only need to show up at the polling booth and have your name checked off. You can then refuse to take the ballot paper by simply stating your a jehovas witness and do not belive in voting.

I would prefer everyone that does not want to vote did that.....that way the informal donkey votes that have been drawn on don't get counted toward the party that is already in power. It would make life a lot easier and fairer for those that do want a democratic outcome!!!!

Most of the people here or anywhere for that matter that can't be bothered would be up in arms if they had the vote taken away.

Seriously it is a right to vote, to express which preference to who you want to run the country. If you dont like none of the candidates in your electorate, you can always run as an independant. Even if you don't win your preferences will make a difference to who gets elected.

Especially all the people before us fought for the vote. All the blacks, women and every singled out citizen due to race and gender who was denied the vote and yet fought hard to secure a true democracy where everyone has their say. You don't have to even vote properly, you can just write Vote 1 for Glenn McGrath (a mate does this every election) and be done.

Cop the fine sweet if you choose its your duty to be arrogant enough to be lazy as the candidates aren't worth it, Just dont complain why we have an Idiot running the country and why no-one didn't vote for the other party.

Just look at the US, Only the loyalists, hardcore political activists and general fanatics that are relying on outcomes for economic gains or relations for trade are the ones that choose who runs the country. And look who they got stuck with, even though the polls shows that the majority don't want him there and question the way he runs the country. But no one can be half assed voting.
