You know what I noticed after running a full blown cook-up in the QLD Summer heat with water/rubbish/sweat & stench everywhere? There were no flies. None. Where the hell are they?? |

I think the rain has keep them away, the 'cooler' weather and saturated breeding spots may have something to do with it.. Same as the mozzies... For summer to date the mozzies are not as bad as previous years..
I really am guessing but with weather like today they will be spawning everywhere imho.

Hi guys,
I am back from day 2 of helping the poor people of Graceville. Today we set about cleaning an older couples house. I have to tell you, I am 6ft1 and I was having trouble getting the gurni up high enough to blast the water marks and mud off the wall. Holy crap! I reckon it missed the ceiling by about 7cm to 10cm. We were in that house from 8am to 3.30pm. I have some before and after shots I will show you so you can see how something small like this makes such a huge difference to peoples spirits. The lady commented that "she finally felt like her house was starting to come alive again now that the mud and brown stains have gone" That made me smile cause it confirmed we had made a difference, just as the AFF team did yesterday at the BBQ and XR6 water wagon As I am a total noob on this forum I will work out how to post pics and show you a few before and after shots. Once again, great effort yesterday guys and gals. If you need any more help with anything please let me know. Cheers Damo PS Every muscle in my body hurts, and my back is killing me, but I would do it again in a flash

The people in there have had two life changing events in the space of a week, first the flood of water - then the flood of people trying to help fix it. Thanks again for yesterday too - you must be completely shagged. |

Scott, all of the sausages are available over the counter, except those beef and pork fat ones, but there is usually some that are sitting around
We are at Chefs Partner, Morningside. Its @ 30 Manton street. Just say that you had some sausages that Josh bought to the Flood BBQ do, and they should know what Im talking about. If you go before 12pm, just ask for me, and I can come out. Josh

Guys, I know he is too humble to admit it, but Josh walked around in the stifling heat dragging an esky on wheels to the places the ute couldnt go, and he just didnt stop. He kept refilling the esky and going back out again. Legend mate, seriously.... Thats what you are...
PS And I am not just saying that because the sausages were grouse lol

^^ Correct.
It was a much easier gig running the BBQ than walking the streets with one arm forever being pulled into the ground by a full esky in pretty terrible conditions. I can say, that we were very lucky to only need to chip in, rather that actually walk a mile in less fortunate shoes. In the fullness of time, when we have covered some more ground, I will start a thread outlining what each of our members and mates contributed to our meager offering of help. We have more to do before we can let this go.... Offers of donations continue to roll in from AFF members and I am prepared to start arranging another effort in the coming days as more specific needs come to light. It had seemed that ladies "bits and pieces" were high on the list but I ran into several opposing views today. I am reluctant to "organise" anyone to go into peoples homes, work in dangerous conditions and deal with other peoples lives and belongings in a physical sense. There is a responsibility that comes with such an undertaking that I am not prepared to take either on behalf of home owners, our members or myself. If members here are keen for me to arrange another couple of days in a similar vein to what we have already done, I am more than happy to do so and will work out a plan, likely with DASH GT, to bring it home again. Any takers? |

It may be a hit miss as i dont have any auto-electrical skills but i can only try , Repco have offered me a very good deal on all the filters and oil etc i need , im not charging the people affected otherwise i would donate that money as well .. Daz... |

Hi Scott,
I am happy to offer to supply the barbecue with food and drinks for a couple of days via our business. Give me a shopping list and we will have it delivered to wherever you want to set up. PM me if it will help. Jon

Depending on the day, Im keen to go again. Australia day might be a good day to aim for?? We will have a better idea of what is needed, and what services are needed, and in what areas.

Its was actually an asbestos house Scott, and they used some sort of super paint lol, most of it came up looking fine which was suprising. The owners are going to wait and see how it pans out once the place dries out a bit But how much nicer is it to be in a clean house It made the owners smile, they felt it was coming back to life again
