To the OP. As per usual, it's just another Holden fan talking out of his tail pipe.

yep I will second that. I can give credit when its due to holden. I actually don't mind the senators (hides). but I couldn't see a GTS beating a GT R spec. should buy him a chevy badge or something

I just don't see how a Supercharged GT rspec can even be compared with a naturally aspirated GTS. Same a trying to compare an Xr6t to an xr8, unfair comparisons as they are totally different beasts. That's my opinion regardless of other people's differing opinions.

Many times the XR6T and XR8 have been compared and the 6 continually beats the 8 because it is cheaper and faster. Just as the RSpec is cheaper and faster than a GTS. The FPV wins. The OP's mate has egg on his face. How 'not different' do cars need to be in their driveline configuration before you believe we should make a comparison between them? As similar as an AMG/BMW/Audi? Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini? Last edited by EVLKNEVL; 26-12-2012 at 03:03 PM. |

Remember the E3 has been out for longer so you will see more. Actually you will always see more due to the Holden is awsome, Ford is crap, stigma that still exists in the market. Unfortunately I cant afford one so I cant help out any with the on road numbers.

They seem to be selling pretty well, even here in Kalgoorlie theres a couple of R-Spec Sedan's and an RSpec Ute regularly getting around. All in the black/red colours as well, which actually looks really good on the utes and not that bad on the sedans. |

honestly...do you work for HSV...and their recent opinions to the media that they dont compare themselves to Fords. What a big fat joke. It goes both ways my friend....how can a 6.2 ltre corvette engine get flogged by a 5.0sc and a 4.0t.. And when these cars all make very similiar power...why wouldnt you compare them You light up my day with your innocent ignorance |

I understood that, I don't own either vehicle so cant make an informed answer. I said my opinion that I think they are in different leagues and got shot down in flames. meh Maybe tell your mate to go down to a FPV and a HSV dealer and try the 2 out for himself?

People compare M Division Beemers and AMG Mercs all the time when there's a 1.8l difference between them. |

I have seen a couple of the Black with red accent GT Rspecs, and at first I thought they were abit on the loud side, but now I recon they look really good. As does the FG series 2 now that they have been out for a bit and I have gotten used to them.

How many times have you seen motoring journalists say car A is better than car B, but they like car B better?
GTS would probably only win due to this, Its a HOLDEN! Personally but I would much prefer the GT, I think it's a better car. Supercharged FTW |

1.2 Litres of displacement isn't enough of an advantage when your running a blower of 1.9 ltr capacity with 10 psi of boost being shoved down its throat of 5.0 ltr quad cam 32 valve. Poor old HSV got no hope, can't wait for the next generation of motors to come next year. Forced induction is the way of the future. |

Just had a look back on previous models and found a pattern 2012 GT R-Spec 0-100 4.67 400m 12.75 2002 T3 TE50 0-100 5.8 400m 14.0 1992 EB GT 0-100 7.3 400m 15.2 1982 XE ESP 0-100 8.9 400m 16.3 So in 2022 we can expect 0-100 in the high 3s and a 400m time in the mid 11s. |

Really? All of a sudden when FPV's top dog is more powerful then HSV's it becomes unfair? For the last 10 years HSV has had more kw's! Funny what happens when the tables are turned.
To the OP your mate is a flog and has no clue what he is talking about. The GTS wouldn't get close enough to even sniff the R-spec's sweet ***. Tell him to have a read on street commodores, plenty of threads on there that will tell him so. |

As has been said, they a designed for the same market for the same use so the comparison is fair. Just like comparing a AMG C63 to a M3. Quite simple really. By the way, the R Spec gets my vote.
