The only thing that could possibly cost any $$$ is the dsc calibration. Everything else is already there.
Oh and the stickers, they could be costly. |

possible senario......................
A couple of FoA execs and a few dealers are sitting around bench racing and generally talking *****. ''One dealer says hey the new Mad Max movie comes out next year, remember that big bad *** black coupe, i think their bringing it back!'' ''A Ford exec thinks to himself we dont do coupes anymore but we can certainly paint cars black, hell we can even black out all the highlighted features and wheels too.'' ''Another dealer says wasnt the motor in that coupe a supercharged 351?'' ''Same Ford exec, the smart one, thinks to himself, we have a supercharged 351kw motor in our arsonal.'' The cogs start turning and............. The ''Max Interceptor'' is born. Cheers Mick |

I'm going with the theory that if you want something faster than
FG-X XR6 Turbo, you buy the XR8, i remember when the last few F6's were rolling off the line & a guy on here that worked on assembling the motors was stating that all the parts were almost gone, so i cant see ford supplying all the tough parts & bigger turbo all over again, easier to keep pushing the V8 until cars run out |

We seen a car on the hwy during the week had brembo brakes single exhaust, font and rear of the car was wrapped..
Brembo brakes, single exhaust has to be a 6cyl but why wrap it..

They wouldn't put cosmetic changes on a police car. Maybe to hide a different cooler? You don't want these rumours on the first week of selling the standard xr6t.

Would love this to come to fruition.
FG-X turbo with 4 spot front Brembos, R-Spec suspension, and rear 275 tyres... And with Tan leather option - yes please Ford. |

Hmmm.. this may tempt me to get a FG-X.
I was always looking at an F6310, but the price at the time I was getting quoted ($65-70k), didn't match the product. (if I just didn't get the 300, when they were offering the $55k deal, I would have gotten one) If they offer this with auto at about $50-$55k, it will be very tempting...

Certainly line ball to 100 kmh I'd say, and judging by the XR6T and the 335 kW Auto Racelogic GPS data that I've got, it's evident that the GT (and presumably the new XR8) should only pull around one and a half car lengths (1.5 tenths) ahead at the end of the quarter at around 6-7 kmh faster. If the Turbo gets some decent tyres then that should help. I've found with my XR6T Auto that the difference between a 1350 and a 2250 rpm stall up can be over 4 tenths to 100 when there is enough grip. If a hotter Turbo comes it should be fast. |

It will be as fast as a FG F6 as the XR8 is as fast ad a GT R Spec......just depends on what parts they are using.

I'd have to go black leather interior.
I wonder if they'll do finance for 5 or 7 years ? Only way I could ever see myself getting a new car :(

might sound strange but are ford maybe relying on the income they make from the xr8 to get parts for the new LE turbo?? and since they dont make f6 motors anymore why would they try and remake the exact power output when they might as well go for more?

If they already do them for cop cars they would save $ by going into longer production runs and sell at higher $
Would love to see this

Just my thoughts! I do apologise in advance if it's been mentioned earlier as I have had time to read the whole thread.
Ford exec's are worried about the short fall in XR8 numbers to meet demand, yes there has been many rumours flying around about ford boosting production numbers. What's the easiest way to combat this simple 310kw XR6T, motor is produced locally (less hold ups with the supplie train) and will also be more of a performance bargain than the XR8 say they do a run of 500 vehicles it will take up most if not all of the XR8 deman short fall. Problem solved. Cheers Ryan |

Stupid move on fords part for not doing this in the first place.
Look at the xr8 sales, why wouldn't a 310 xr6t (or g6et) sell just as well? If they did this from the start there would be a new fgx xr6t ute in my shed now instead of the second hand fg f6 ute. Playing games with the 6 will cost them sales in the long run, if you're in the market for an xr6t you'd be silly to buy right now if the rumours turn out to be true.

If its the same spec as the XR8, I too think it would start somewhere just under $50k. The F5 was always $5k RRP less than a the GT so you would hope the XR6 is about $3000 under the XR8.
FG X XR8 5.0L RRP is: - (manual) $52,490 - (auto) $54,690
