Y'all are forgetting something.

Ford has such a good track record with supply/demand. Like it's totally unrivalled.

You'll be surprised how much more comfort your rear passengers will have with the roof off than the fastback.

I do like the prices though! Quite surprised as others are!

If Ford had been perceived by the motoring press that the car was overpriced, it would be a heck of a lot of bad publicity for a new car launch that needs our market to succeed to justify the development of RHD. Soon the car would also be seen as a poor choice by the general public because its too expensive and that kills a lot of potential future sales.

The choice Ford did make, gets rid off that risk and really puts them on the front foot. They did well with this announcement. Somehow I think the XR8 will become more readily available now Mustang pricing is known to the public. I suspect a few XR8 orders or potential orders will now go to Mustang.

They will probably initially price gouge like some dealers did with the XR8. That should get rid of a few. Then they can hit the remainder with their customer service skills.

The balance left, definitely want a Mustang!

Actually I hope a few of the good ones, that have stuck with Ford, do well with the Mustang. After years of Falcon performing poorly and patchy sales of just about everything else, they deserve a break.

Hope they've left room for a supercharger under that hood, I'm suddenly in the market for a used supercharger from a 335 GT or XR8

WOW, that's a bit rough singling me out. Ford themselves quoted 70k for the top line V8. Things obviously changed.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the pricing.

In this instance, I'm happy to be wrong as I will be getting a manual V8. But geez, I only mentioned the pricing a couple of times and you remembered me? Wow.

Default Re: Mustang Pricing. From $44,990 + ORC.

The media release:

MELBOURNE, 03 Mar., 2015 – Ford has announced sharp pricing for the all-new Ford Mustang Fastback and Convertible.
The all-new Mustang arrives later this year with a recommended Manufacturers’ List Price* starting at $44,990 for the six-speed Getrag manual transmission Fastback, which features a high performance 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. A six-speed automatic is a $2,500 option.
The range topper is the six-speed automatic GT 5.0-litre V8 Convertible, which has an MLP of $63,990.
“With such sharp pricing, we’re signaling that there’s a new Ford performance car coming and we intend to grab our rightful share of enthusiasts who value style, technology, performance and the history that the Mustang name brings,” says Graeme Whickman, Vice President Marketing, Sales and Service. “It’s a technologically advanced car without forgetting the heritage that has inspired Ford customers for generations.
Ford already holds around 1,200 orders for the Mustang Fastback and Convertible. More than 15,000 fans and intending buyers have also requested more information about the car via the Ford website.
Customers will initially be able to option their Mustang I4 and GT Fastback with OTT racing stripes and black painted roof, 19-inch Premium Wheels with Lustre Nickel finish on the GT and prestige paint.

Unmistakably Mustang

The clean-sheet design of both Ford Mustang Fastback and Convertible evokes the essential character of the vehicle, retaining key design elements of the classic Mustangs recognisable to car fans everywhere, including the long sculpted hood and short rear deck, with a contemporary execution.
Several key design features define the new Ford Mustang, including:

- A low roof height and wide stance
- Sleek profile enabled by steeply sloped windscreen and rear glass
- Three-dimensional, tri-bar tail-lamps
- Contemporary execution of the iconic car’s signature trapezoidal grille and shark-bite front fascia

Ford Mustang convertible drivers will appreciate the standard multilayer insulated cloth top that gives the car an upscale appearance and a quiet cabin. The top has a sleek profile when folded for open-air motoring.

Large, clear instrumentation puts vehicle information right in front of the driver in the roomy cabin with an aviation-inspired cockpit, while ergonomic and tactile switches and knobs provide control. The vehicle’s width and new rear suspension contribute to improved shoulder and hip room for passengers and a usefully shaped boot space that can accommodate two golf bags.

A Mustang for the true driving enthusiast

The new Ford Mustang features all-new front and rear suspensions. At the front, a new perimeter sub-frame helps to stiffen the front structure while reducing mass, providing a strong foundation for more predictable wheel control that benefits handling, steering and ride.
The new double ball-joint front MacPherson strut system also enables the use of large, powerful brakes. Both 2.3-litre EcoBoost and V8-powered GT Mustang models will feature performance brake packages behind standard 19-inch wheels.
At the rear is an all-new integral-link independent rear suspension. The geometry, springs, dampers and bushings all have been specifically modified and tuned for this high-performance application. New aluminium rear knuckles help reduce unsprung mass for improved ride and handling.

Smart technology

The new Mustang features a significant number of innovative technologies providing drivers with enhanced information, control, and connectivity when they want it.
Like other Fords, the Mustang will feature high levels of connectivity via Ford’s SYNC2 system. Ford’s advanced infotainment system features a high-resolution, 8-inch colour touch screen and advanced voice control for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control and compatible mobile phones.

I have a feeling we wont get the full performance pack which includes the following:

• Strut-tower brace
• Larger radiator
• Unique chassis tuning
• Upsized rear sway bar
• Heavy-duty front springs
• Instrument panel appliques are Engine Turn aluminum
• Interior gauge pack (oil pressure and vacuum)
• K-brace
• Brembo™ 6-piston front brake calipers with larger rotors
• Unique 19”x 9” (front) 19”x 9.5” (rear) Ebony Black aluminium wheels
• 255/40R19 (front) 275/40R19 (rear) summer only tires
• Unique stability control, EPAS and ABS tuning
• 3.73 TORSEN® rear axle
• Spoiler delete

We are getting the brakes, Wheels, Rubber but would really be interested if we get the rest of stuff, especially different ratio diff, bigger radiator, bracing etc.

I don't see them mentioning any of the other features, even the interior gauge pack, that would be mentioned if it had it.

They only mention the wheels, tyres, and brakes out of that list.

I admit its still early days, but I'm sure they would mention all the bracing and gauges etc if it had it. I hope I am wrong.

Has to be the best value new car on the market. The standard equipment is insane considering the drivetrain.

Was slow for me but I managed to get through to the end with a driveaway price of $62,700 for a V8, auto and $500 for the paint.

I think that is a little optimistic. It would have to sell well over 1000/month (even over 1250/month) and outsell the current number 1 sports car under $80k by 4:1.

I could see it hitting that much, Australia is pretty much a performance market.

Even the Mercedes C Class sells 800-900 a month and that starts around 60k.

Default Re: Mustang Pricing. From $44,990 + ORC.

Surprised by the price as I was thinking it would be more then what it is for the V8.

Good on them. Probably never really consider one (new) as this is a weekend car and not a daily for me.

You know you can't, and that base non metallic colours are part of the base price.
