The idea of buying a BA GT has been on my mind for a while. For me it would be something I could tinker with and would do max of 5000kms a year if that.

If I could find a clean well looked after and unmolested manual BA GT I would grab one. I had a look at a couple manual example in the last 6 months and both left a lot to be desired and put me off a bit.

But I am sure there are nice examples out there that will pop up eventually.

No way would I part with mine for what the market thinks its worth. I think its insurance value is only around 18k.

They are really a great car. Granted when I test drove mine before buying. I owned a xr6t, and thought the GT wasn't much chop(initial impression). But once you live with it a while, and give it a workout. You begin to appreciate it for what it is. They are no slouch.

i have two buds that have been down the modified turbs road of the same era in the early days

they both rocking some fairly minty BA GTs now and loving it - both 5sp manuals and no mods other than loudish zorsts

My friend bought that ba gt with 90000km on it in very good condition. I had my bf gtp at the time. He was a mechanic but now does something else for his living. After about 2 years of ownership the tensioner and chains became more and more noisier on start up to the point that he had the problem fixed. The car did not have any noise when he originally purchased the car. It was mercury silver with 5 speed manual a very nice car. I actually was going to buy it off him after he fixed the tensioners as the car was very clean. I diff offer him about $16000 from memory about 3 years ago but he told me the diff was starting to get noisy and would need fixing. In the 3 years he owned it only did about 7000km. He ended up trading it on a ranger. I did manage to buy his x3 tuner off him to use on my ts50. Never seen that car again. It was a good one.

Defiantly has Street Cred. It's an Aussie Muscle Car.

Had my Black 2005 BA Mk2 6 speed manual for over 8 years now . It gets used occasionally on weekends and just clicked over 65k kms. I know they're cheap as chips now but even if someone offered me the price I paid for it ($48k in 2007) I still wouldn't sell it. It's not about money and only a BA GT/P owner would understand the love affair.

I remember working around Warwick in QLD when the BA GTs were released. They were filming an add for them just running up and down the road.
I couldn't help but stare. Little did I know a year and a half later I would be driving out of the glass showroom in my very own, brand new phantom GT no stripes.
Bloody best feeling yet. Loved the BA GT and wish I still had it.

When the BA GT was released in early 2003, I was lucky enough to get a flame thrower ride in a Blood Orange GT at the local dealer.

I'm sure many will understand how influential this was to a 16 year old car nut with blue blood in the veins.

By the time I was in a position to buy a GT, Ford had had been canned FPV. But I'm now a owner of a magnificent FGX XR8, as close as I could get.

But I have the BA GT to thank for the love of a Ford V8.

I'd buy a manual BA GTP in a heart-beat. Such great performance for so little coin. The BA/F had a liveliness in the chassis that I just don't feel in my FG GT. The latter feels like a big heavy car which is only saved by the SC V8. The ultimate combo would be a Miami in a BA/F.

Yeah but they are quick enough for most people. A tune and an exhaust will see mid to low 13's quite easily, & sound pretty awesome doing it.

My 12 second XR6 Turbo was nowhere near as much fun as my GT-P.

Probably not quick compared to an F6, modded 6T or any SC V8, but quick compared to any non aspirated Aussie V8 before it. What was the rwkw of a GTHO P3?

When I bought mine I had only ever owned 2 V8's before it , an XA Fairmont Couple with 302 auto owned in early 80's and an XC GXL 351 owned in mid 80's, but compared to those two cars the GT was in another league altogether performance wise
