It did a couple of times, and so did the BA on a couple of occasions, but the headline is FORD outsold Holden, not Falcon outsold Commodore.

Mercury Bullett : Dont see the Captiva/Chev Equinox in the list ??
For now, though, here's the list and a synopsis of what the magazine had to say about the models it chose: • Lowest-rated subcompact: Mitsubishi Mirage. Cheap to buy and good gas mileage, but it's "tiny, tinny" and the three-cylinder engine vibrates. • Lowest-rated compact: Fiat 500L. Worst reliability of any new car and a "dismal" road-test score. • Lowest-rated midsize sedan: Chrysler 200. "Mediocre," with clumsy handling and poor on the road. • Lowest-rated compact luxury car: Mercedes-Benz CLA250. Stiff ride, noisy, cramped. • Lowest-rated midsize luxury car: Lincoln MKS. -- Outdated and outclassed. • Lowest-rated family SUV: Dodge Journey. V-6 engine had poor gas mileage. • Lowest-rated luxury compact SUV: Land Rover Discovery Sport. Too little or too much acceleration, and a balky transmission. • Lowest-rated large luxury SUV: Cadillac Escalade. Stiff ride, not that roomy and the Cue infotainment system is "confounding." • Lowest-rated minivan: Chrysler Town & Country. Poor gas mileage and didn't fare well in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's small overlap crash tests. • Lowest-rated green car: Mitsubishi i-MiEV. A "half-step up from a golf cart," slow and clumsy. I'm not defending the Captiva but lets be fair....you cannt compare the Series 1 or 2 with the MY 16...http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/...gory/82388508/ http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/art...le-awards.html

they often lead with stying changes which often look odd yet the other manufacturers follow and its soon accepted. look at how much Corolla Changes each model. that's quite a risk to take for Top selling car so sorry I Disagree.

The link in the OP.
Territory sold 654 units Captiva sold 823 units I can't see why anyone would consider a Captiva with it's reputation when you can have a Territory at practically the same price point. Just the numbers surprised me, that's all. EDIT: Sorry are you referring to your list?

Never mind what side of 65 you're on - I'm on the "right" side and still need a wagon over an SUV simply because I enjoy driving and need practicality. I too jumped ship and bought a Holden just over a year ago, no regrets!

Reading the GoAuto Site Ford made a loss this year of around 150 million, Holden made a Profit of around 150 million, it appears that Ford are struggling financially at the moment.

Yep and I can find just as many reviews calling it a lemon.
Anyway my point is that it's outselling Territory by a decent margin when it's a known lemon. I'm surprised that a car with such a bad reputation still sells well. That's all I'm trying to say.

Ranger and mustang , that can't last forever. To tell you the truth I've lost all interest who's selling the most cars. None will be made here any more and how many will have any Australian content and we pay nearly double than they do almost anywhere else in the world for the same car . What a bunch of shmucks we are

you live in this world where popular = best. a mazda 3 or corolla must be better than a small merc or bmw as they sell more! sure, its an extreme example, but you get the picture. |

Also just to add to this point is everyone gets hung up on total numbers. 3000 cars at 0-low profit is not better than 1000 cars at med-high profit. This is extremely hard for some people to fathom.

I recently came across a Facebook post about Ford outselling Holden. One of the top comments was something like "Ford sell more these days because their advertisements are great"
I guess that guy wasn't a member of this forum judging by how much everyone here hates Ford ads. |

So Ford sold more Thai built light trucks than Holden did?
Wonderful.

Are you suggesting a Colorado is the equal of Ranger?

Back when I was buying dual-cab utes for work, Isuzus were great value for money.

Are you suggesting its not?
As the saying goes, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... Or you could choose to believe that GM magically designed a light truck all on their own, then just gave the design to Isuzu for laughs. Its the same with the Ranger. Sure, you can swallow the official line than a couple of peeps from FA, with zero experience in light trucks, just came up with the design overnight, whilst all Mazda did was make the coffees. At the end of the day, does it really matter? Is a Mule more Horse or Donkey? Moreover, my point is that the issue of which brand sold more Thai built lights trucks is about as interesting as watching an earthworm take a dump. The Ford v Holden rivalry once meant something. If this is what it has been reduced to, then who gives a rats?

Manufacturers are pretty competitive these days so for the same class vehicles manufacturing costs would be similar. |

According to some people anything with a Holden Badge is Australian and everything else is overseas junk. A guy I worked with purchased a new VL Commodore and he was going on how be brought Australian etc and when I said to him his Commodore had a Nissan Japan Engine and Gearbox he looked at me stunned.
