As someone who did rust repair and restoration work for a living for a while, its hugely time consuming if you want good work, and at 120-150 /hr it's about the same as a general welding shop rate.
But the guy also needs to be a mechanic, a panel beater, a spray painter and an auto elec.
Most places also wont take the work on anyway because it's not worth the never ending disputes with bills or timelines.
