GTHO conundrum

The thing is, it uses a roots blower. Those things get crazy hot (they create alot of heat from friction as they force air into the engine at an accelerated rate). And cooling them is a problem, I don't know if the Ford GT setup is factory intercooled or not, but its complex to setup an i/c roots system (has to be built into the manifold or some-such).

The Boss engine already required the bonnet to be modified to fit in the Falcon, what about the s/c? It would be a difficult fit.

The GTHO is history and WILL NEVER be done again....and if we're not real carefull..sometime in the next 10 or so years there will be no car manufacturers in Oz they will all be in China!!!!!!!

I think it came in because HSV had the Clubsport and Clubsport R8 - they wanted models to line up against HSV in comparisson. Interesting that they probably allowed this to influence the creation of the GT-P - it came out of their desire to match models with HSV rather than create a specifically different model. GT should have just stayed the GT.

The LS7 is the most powerful currently released GEN IV V8. There are very strong rumours of a super vette with at least 600hp that will be out in a few years. There has also been talk of the LS3 and LS9 on some corvette/GTO boards. From what I can gather the LS3 looks likely to take over from the LS2. LS3 being 6.2L and approx. 320-330kw. GM aren't standing still on the motor front, is Ford?

Well because the same people seem intent on ,or are bored enough ,to keep starting crap threads that one of a ZULU warriors wives , whos life consists of collecting cows blood and grinding vegitable matter into food all day long , every day , could work out in about 10 seconds of thought ! I mean if the first post is any where near the mark , imagine what an XY Gt HO would be realy worth now if the XA and XB GT werent released ! If the Phase 5 had been released to the public an XY HO'y would be looked upon with as much respect as morris minor , is that correct ???? Get real , a release of a HO now would only strengthen the new Ford direction, unless it was more in the vain of the Eb and EL GT's.Somehow , i dont think that would happen !

TL50- Tickford Luxury 5.0 litre

For the T3 series they couldnt be bothered renaming a line up to coincide with the engine displacement change.

Agree that the GTHO nameplate should be put to rest. It deserves it's place in time, and could never be matched in todays climate. Would much rather FPV dedicate it's resources into the current GT lineup to restore it to the pinnacle of Aussie performance cars and administer HSV a well overdue butt kicking.

FPV doesn't need to break any records, they need to build a car that will lift the image of the falcon brand. The GTHO has been said to be a case of when rather then if. Watching the various GTHO threads and at times getting ready for its anticipated arrival, it looks like the marketing at FPV have already done there work. The problem is that after 30 odd years, there has been so much pent up thought and dreams about this car that it is hard to break the ice when releasing the car, however when they do build the car it will be easy for the marketing department to see what the customers would like in future models and continually develop the car with the falcon range.

I find it odd that people are saying if there was to be a new GTHO, it has to be the quickest 4 door car in the world? Why? If Ford were to bring out a GTHO, i think being the undisputed king of local muscle is enough. Holden was kind of on the right track with the HSV 427. Ford needs to work on something like that, just a lot more 'liveable'.

On that note, why isn't someone working on a BF coupe? :sm_drool:
