If you were in Vic, I'd let you borrow my EB for an hour for $100. That would shut him up.

Whatever mods you decide to do, don't spend money on your car just to compete. If you're gonna spend money on your car, do it for yourself and your own personal satisfaction. What will you do when the next 'faster' car comes along? Spend more to compete with him too? That's just my honest opinion

I got an XE for sale. Its got a 4.1 250 in it. Need a little work to going as hard as you want it. But I know squat about these engines. So no idea what would be involved.

hhhmmm...4.1 cortina or 2 litre escort. the escort isnt as quick as the cortina, but the look on your mates face when he gets owned by a 4 pot will be priceless.
however, i tend to agree with a couple of the other posters...save you pennies and get something you really want, not just a car to race once. |

But RSgerry and everyone else have a good point, the important thing is that you like it and enjoy driving it, so don't just get whatever you think will flog your mate, get something you like.

If he is happy with it good for him. Personally I wouldn’t pay 2g just to burst someone’s bubble. From the looks of it that commy will at least impress the 16yo jail-bait. That aint going to happen with a $2000 POS.

I cannot believe that no-one has mentioned a Mazda RX2/RX3 with a 12A maybe even a 13B with a little port massaging. All for under $2000.00, This would easily kick commodore ***.

Just save up and buy something that makes you happy dude, you'll grow out of the whole 'racing your mates' thing soon enough. My ED definitely isn't the fastest car out of all my mates, but it's mint, and it's mine

VS's go shit if you ask me, I had the stock auto and stock engine in mine, 98RON fuel, K&N filter and AU TE50 snorkel and I killed my mates VS statesman V6, he has Pacemakers, 2 1/2" twin pipes, SS air induction, 19" Rims with 245 rubbers and I had him of take off all the way upto 160km/h, in the end I was 2 car lengths in front.
Just kep on pulling away and away. He was shattered.

Get an old series 1 or 2 RX7 rotary. Get it mechanically spot on and that will teach him a lesson.

hey i just beat my mates VS v6 the other day in a drag in my stock (apart from zorst) EB I6 auto!
his car is down a bit on paper but they are not that fast as people think. just make sure you organise it well like as soon as he fills up with petrol and your low on it race him! i would suggest an EB/ED xr manual
