No offence, but is this a 'trick' thread??
How could anybody spend thousands of $$ on a stereo, or any part of their car, and then not take a spare tyre?? I would have thought that if you (at least I do, but my money doesn't go on stereo's) had spent big bucks on your car, you wouldn't want to leave it alone on the road side for too long, just because of a flat that you can't change. Seems crazy to me... |

I do but it hasn't stopped me from being lazy and driving home on a flat tyre.
I once drove about 15minutes home and by that stage the tyre was on fire and smoke was oing everywhere lol. Definately needed a new tyre after that.

So we went back to the car, put on the buckled rim then drove home. We could actually hear the tyre shredding as it was going around "tikatee-tikatee-tikatee-tikatee-Tck-Tck-Tck-Tck-Tck-THUD THUD THUD THUD" and a bump-bump as part of the front tyre was ripped off the rim and went under the rear. It was pretty funny at 3am in the morning seeing the lights in houses turn on sequentially as we were driving past at 4000rpm(3rd gear bogged down too much and the car would slow), making a hell of a noise, sparks galore and leaving a trail of rubber and smoke behind us. |

I do.
Once I had two flats at once tho (ran over somethin) changed the spare for one and used can of that "Finneleak" or whatever (aerosol reseal can). Pulled into the tyre place and asked em to fix two tyres. next thing there was a tremendous BANG and the tyre bloke nearly took my block off. He was covered in foam and ropable! Sadi i shoud have told him that i had used it I tried hard not to laugh.. sorry dude |

I am under the impression, that in QLD it is illegal to NOT carry a spare tyre, as it is part of the crash testing proceedure. The tyre actually forms an impact zone in the rear of the car, betwwen the diff and rear bar, to absorb impact. I know I carry one, because without the spare tyre to absorb the impact, the plastic fuel tank takes over, and that is just down right dangerous....

no spare, in a mustang there is no wheel well or underneath space for one, so it sits right in the middle of the boot floor, taking up half the room , i throw one in for long trips and otherwise keep it at home, and expect some family member/friend to respond (instantly of course) to my call and go fetch it for me should i need it. one of these days (probably after i get a flat) i'll find a a space saver and keep it in there

Sorry mate you dont have a spare wheel your car is defective. You must by law carry a spare tyre. Now my mate has his stereo in his boot. Spare is there just cant get it out. He built his stereo over the top. He said if they pull him up for it he could get it out with a phillps head screw driver in about 3 hours but. But by qld law you must carry a spare

Original Sapphie alloy in the boot, found out exactly how handy it is a couple of weeks ago when I copped a flat on Barry way, about halfway between Jindabyne N.S.W and Buchan Vic. No mobile reception and no tyre joint within a coupla hundred kays.
