I have seen and heard many a V8 TT in a boat, and they sound freaking awesome. Thats why I asked. 130 MPH...thats huge. Easy 11 sec car or better.

I think it's best was 132 or so .... That's excellent MPH. Remember Rod is a seasoned racer too and I believe he didn't run the big numbers straight away either.

I think the wasted energy given out of the engine through sound gets absorbed? into the turbos. Some one else may be able to explain it but it muffles the sounds that would normally go straight out the exhaust, hence why a supercharger doesn't do the same thing.

Great time.We don't even know how much boost this car has or any other details. The MPH is huge, good to see the FPV V8's showing some great potential.Quad Cam V8's love forced induction and it won't be long untill we see some mind blowing figures.

Mate..132mph is huge..i'm looking at my miserable 101..:..lol

Nah...credit is due were it's warranted. 1st time out with that MPH..special car..with that MPH she has alot more in ET left. Congrats to the driver too. Probably very nervous with a lot of expectations riding on his shoulders. Good effort i say and will look forward to seeing better times with more track experience. It's inevitable. Well done to all those that were involved.

There is a difference.

things that need to be remembered when raceing a car, you need to get a base line first & i think a 120 MPH pass is a great baseline to start with

does anybody even know what sort of a tune was in this car maybee thats all they were looking for

from what i understand this was the guy's first time on a drag strip, how many here can claim to have run a 120 MPH pass on there first time out, how many can even claim to have run 120 MPH period

personally i think it was a great effort & an even better effort for a first time racer

what ever happened to "it's Ford it's good" instead of the constant "oh i expected better from that" mabee if people got behind those that are haveing a go it may help everybody that wants to improve there cars

Don't stress Rod. It's usually the ones that haven't raced on a strip that bag everyone. On the flip side the know it all that pay someone else to setup their car also tend to have a go.

120mph is a fine 1st outing, it shows potential. Quikcorty also had his 1st meet last friday but nett'd various mph readings. He did very well I thought.

Hi Rod, long time no see, glad to see you on here.

I think many people look at cars like these and say x dollars on mods, x power, so it must run x time on its first outing, and as you and many other racers know, brainpower is always first to the finishing line.

Its Ford so its good, and thats the way it should be. Good on him......

Yeh the turbo acts like a silencer absorbing some of the raw sound coming out of the exaust ports. Sounds like a ok description to me.
Hence why alot of turbo ricers running 3" + systems and are not to loud, compare a N/A rotary to a turbo one, the n/a with a big system is defening.

130 mph is preety "consistent" of a turbo car, eapecially a V8. Sounded like it needs a bigger converter speed. Then you'll see times drop. But it's probably daily driven and i know if my car ran 130 i'd be stoked.

I thought it was to run on 2 pound boost for now. Might be wrong, makes me drool but. They made it as OEM as possible, hence the statement that it looks stock.

something like 440rwkw at 9 pound boost (I think without checking)

They just have to watch temps at that power level, need a bigger radiator.

All up a nice project

Thumbs up

great work ... 120mph starting point first time out ... couldn't ask for more

maybe not next time but the time after ... it'll take a 10sec pass

I think it is easily forgotten how hard it is to work under the bonnet of these cars and get a twin turbo happening ... there is next to no room

well done again

I know i spent x amount on my car and it makes x amount of power and i'll be happy if i get it to the other end of the strip without putting it into a wall :gren:.

You've told me alot of cars would run certain times and to date everyone of them has made the time or eclipsed it, i'll be happy to get close to what you think my car is capable of. Btw i need to call you tomorrow morning to.

To do it they went for a remote oil filter, so dump pipe would fit

That is a great effort for a car that would be pushing 2 tonnes to run a time like that on its first outing, certainly shows great potential.
I dont think it was captanmar's first time driving down the drag strip though, as i remmember he was at calder one night, the last time i was out running my ute. He was driving his AU xr8 SC sedan, and i remember it ran a high 12 @ 110 mph, which i thought was a super effort considering the car was on 17' street rubber and he drove it there.

From what I've been reading on the Turbo forum this is what some of the guys were saying.

" The TTGT ran last night. It was detuned abit and is getting ready for the LS1 nats. It had a best of 12.1@120mph with a 1.85 60'. This is with a standard stall, which is getting changed next week. The car has another 80-100rwkw's on top of what it was using last night"

I think if this car does have another 80-100rwks then I think a certain somebody needs to lookout and you know who you are BPR, It should be a great race , A clash of the Titains some would say. Powerdyne vs TurboCharged. Ute vs Sedan. black vs Blue ........OOOHHHH S h i t .
