Pity it isn't multiple choice !! so many good bands there , but one I not a fan of is "The Oils" (sorry) . Being an Old Phart , I've got to go for a lot of the 80's bands , just got to love 'em .

I think Crowded House & Noiseworks were both NZers ?

IKTPQ and PWD are kinda past their day IMO, and I doubt you'd see any of that coming right into the mainstream.

that would be because neither have any like new material. they just keep doing local shows :

when they release some new material, they'll come good again.

Seeing as last year they both relased 2 of the best (urguably) aussie hardcore/metalcore albums ever their followups will make or break them imo. I for one are looking forward to what happens, also seeing as they both have strong US backing they should be ok for a while at least.

Yupe Crowded House are fully Kiwi.......bloody Aussies always stealing our stars.

AC/DC for me, yes, Angus was born in Scotland? or in the UK like the rest but he was brought up in Australia. Crowded house with the Fin Brothers are 100% Kiwi.

i think, even if the next albums arent that great. everyone will still like them. there arnt many other decent aussie hardcore/metalcore bands.

except for "The Dead Walk" they are godly. more crossover than straight up hardcore but they rule.

I'm ****ed off. My sister and girl friend have the nerve to say that my taste in music was **** when I was listening to midnight oil- beds are burning. saying it was so old and it's got no beat or rthym, they must be on somthing because I reckon it's real good music. Any opinions?

Don't know how many people are the same as me , but I don't really have a Favourite Band . Some of my friends say "Oh , you've got to like XYZ band , your crazy" .

Every band have brilliant songs , they also have songs that are pure junk , SO , I'm a "Song" fan , rather than a "Band" fan .

I'd like to know if others think the way I do .

Cheers all
Norm

mate what do they listen to? probably indie or emo crap, everyone seems to love that **** nowadays. im not a huge midnight oil fan (i do like them) but nothing beats good old fashioned rock n roll. these days you really dont have to have much musical ability or originality to make it big, its all about image and marketing, and who can get the most screaming teenage girls as fans. im a die hard rock n roll/heavy metal fan and i can tell you, im an extreme minority among most of the people i know, with the exception of a few who, after riding in my car all the time and having to listen to zeppelin, metallica, sabbath, stones etc, have seen the light

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of all rock/metal. I only like a song if it has Lyrics that inspire, have a message I can relate to or has a great chorus. I like all types of music but lately i have been really sick of RnB. It all sounds the same and I'm sick of their dancing. All about love me babey crap and rap seems to be all about wanna smack dat hoe and shoot em up. I told em the rnb they listen to now will be long gone in 10 years time and Rock will still have its old fans and only bring in more generations like me. I also said that dance isn't real music (although I love some songs) It's just computer noise and they can't possibly bag out real bands with real instruments. I got over the image side of things and I would rather a song that I can sing to with pride. Forgotten years by Midnight oil is definetely one of them. It's a great song when I'm driving.

Well no actually, 1/3 of Crowded House is Kiwi, the other 2 members are Victorian.

Yes later on both Fin brothers were involved in the band so at best they were 1/2 Aussie 1/2 Kiwi.

Also I have nothing against Kiwi's so this is not an attack just spelling out the facts.

Back to the poll... umm I wish I could choose a few as the Oil's, Crowded House, Powderfinger, AC/DC are all awesome bands and Jet will be a great aussie band if they continue the way they are going!
