I have the conical airbox on my old XR8 and I have both the K&N and the standard type paper filter A1492 and I have been experimenting with the two. I personally can't feel any difference in power. The standard one is physically larger in the airbox, the airbox lid seems to seal better with it, and it is a little quieter in terms of intake noise. Plus it seems to keep the throttle body cleaner over 6 months.

I'd be surprised if the K&N delivers more than a couple rwhp let alone double figures but maybe my butt dyno isn't accurate Or maybe the other mods on the car kind of mask it.

But maybe the supercharged engines respond a lot better to this mod than the old clunker 5.4s!
And I ran a stock one on a ute that ran 10.38 @ 136mph... took it back to the track with a K@N the week after and it ran 10.36 @ 135

Theres no power in them on a stock car trust me, but they are better for $$$ for sure

Daniel

I've been pretty happy with them, and they aren't very expensive when you factor in that they last the life of the car.

Actually, just remembered that the panel in the Ghia was used in the BA as well, so it has done about 100,000km and saved me a filter each service. I'd say that's a good outcome.

What would you propose?

ZF 6HP26 for XR8, XR6T and G6ET, Chinese made ZF 6HP21 for the rest of the range. The 21 cannot handle the power that the first lot of cars can produce (at least not reliably), where the 26 can. But due to the market moving to 7 and 8 speed autos, the 26 is being discontinued, leaving the capable but not as tough 21 to soldier on.

This is why Ford stockpiled the 26's, and this is why they are limited with the number of autos they can make. If you want a manual, you should be sweet.

And the reason for this? Recalibration and engineering would be too expensive to invest in a new transmission, and what is the payoff for Ford to do so? So that's the situation, and that's why I won't be stuffing around when this thing does come on the market.

Mate I don't know what you drive but the open airbox and entry for the Supercharged V8s mean that the filters look more disgusting after 5000km than a normal air filter on a regular Falcon looks after 50,000km. They get absolutely covered in crud. The nice free flowing intake etc. has its costs. After 10,000km they look ready for the bin, incredible really.

So to cue the question from a zillion pages back, and to which no one has given a decent answer on is this:

How big is the hp-26 stockpile? 1000, 2000, 5000, 1, 15, 72, 0?

Anyone know if 18" wheels will fit over the Brembo brakes on the XR8?

Depends. The BA/BF 18's fit over the Brembos on NSW Police cars.

FPV ones with the right spoke clearance will.

The FGX police XR6 Turbos have the same brakes and the old BA F6 wheels.

Well we already know the base "Falcon"/xt has the hidden exhaust, so that's one thing.

From the angle of the photo they look like the current hwp wheels with a slight angle instead of being straight

Going on pics as well ... G6E N/A is the same setup as XT ... which is a step backwards ... doesn't look as good as the FG/FGII G6E setup.
