OMG some of the nitpicking in this thread just floors me.

On a more positive note those wheels look great on the ute. And IMHO the more square nose of FGX will look better...the steep slope of the Fgs nose to me never gel'ed with the boxy rear (this coming from a FG ute owner...obviously I still find it attractive enough but FGX IMHO is an improvement to me)

As far as the Ute is concerned, agreed.

I just noticed while looking at a xr50 anniversary online, the 'XR' badging is exactly the same on this new model...still a nice looking badge though, just never seen a 50th xr up close

The wheels do look small though.

I think the smaller rims are to allow for the one tonne suspension option

And XR6 or not, it is a commercial with base wheels which make sense for it's purpose. Option away.

Nope, they've just stockpiled old 6HP26s as far as I've heard. Same box you got in an '05 XR. Still a good box but not what you'd call state of the art.

I don't think they needed to upgrade the ZF box, the 6HP26 is still one of the nicest torque converter autos out there. My only gripe is that Ford never programmed a rev-matching feature for performance mode (I believe other manufacturers did this with the same box).

And when you have a less than perfect dif which came supplied with no friction mod from the factory, it makes the transmission "appear" a little rough especially when cold.

I'm shocked that after all the complaining about the orange side indicators, no one has whinged (so far) about the red sticker on the number plates !

Everyone was saying the same thing about front overhang, wheel size and ride height when the FG came out. Now the FG appears to be a well received design. I wonder if the same thing will happen with FG X?

I don't see how people can say it looks horrid. Opinion or not, no reasonable person that thought before they typed could say that. Might not be to your taste but it's hardly horrid.

Looks too classy to chuck tools in the back.....

(of course, with VF utes, the tools are in the front)

Really nice shots, btw.

From these side profile pictures, looks like you don't need a hand break on the FG X! you just find a wall and lean the front of the car against it.

I actually really like the look of the cab chassis.
Looks great in silver and im colour blind.
If I was in the market for a ute I would be much interested, somebody photoshop a vf commodore underneath the FGX in the same colour and tell me it looks better

Not really fair to compare gtf with fgx, I get what you're trying to do but the gtf is at another level looks wise, perhaps use an fg XR8 to compare?
