Anyway sorry for distraction, my point is we need to be a little tolerant of everyone's opinions right now, it's a tough time to be blue. Back on FG-X

Completely apropos of nothing, I had a drive in a family member's new base model Territory TDCI last week while on holidays.
Bloody hell, it was a real pleasure, even with a smelly diesel engine . Smooth (no licorice strap tyres help a lot with this!), quiet interior (relative to my BF XR with licorice strap tyres). I was mighty impressed, not having been in one since the day they came out. Clearly I need to be a Saudi prince, so I can have a shed full of vehicles, three for every day in the week. That'd make buying a car a much easier proposition. |

Nice! So it doesn't have the Michelins, still has the Dunlops.
Geez, it does look nice. Some shots it looks ok, others (like these) it looks staunch. Looking forward to seeing one in the metal.

The brembo brake rotors get rusty very easily for some reason...even just after washing a car with these brembos, the brakes lock on slightly...the standard rotors on my fg xr6t don't get nowhere as rusty that easily.

They do at that. In minutes it seems after a wash. Not just lock but very noisy for a few pushes on the peddle. Not a problem though ...

Anyway I won a night to Fords design centre on the Friday before the public release. So I was told by a worker that I might meet some of the guys from Ford marketing, designing and others etc. special media press night for important people apparently.

Maybe Ford offered him a ticket because he has actually been positive about the new Falcon.

Yep, no wonder Ford is shutting down, when supposed blue bloods can't even get behind it. I've not bought any of my Fords new, but I am looking forward to getting into one of these.
I feel like I am part of a dying breed - bugger all representation in V8 Supercars (and therefore the minority of fans), positive about Ford's locally made cars, and unwilling to purchase anything else. I guess I'll be driving my XR8 until we run out of oil, and then I'll convert it to run on bottled farts or something.

Callum you've been a bit hit and miss in your efforts around here and on FB, and some of your posts may have been a little undercooked and some information a bit half assed. Your creation of the page a bit opportunist perhaps. But thats Facebook. And your passion for the product isn't in question, it's clear. It's been a learning experience for many of us, even some normally reliable sources have been hit and miss. You've made some friends and foes around here, but in the end your effort on FB has helped to raise the public profile of the new FG-X and for that you deserve recognition. Well done.

I've just found out that between the two Ford dealerships here in the ACT they are getting 6 XR8's from the initial release.
Then between January and March there will be approximately 280 made for all of Australia with the next allocation after that to be made in January for the April to September period. Don't know about any one else, but I'm happy I've got a deposit down. 280 is bugger all for the whole of Australia for 4 months. If you want an XR8 even if you order in January you could, potentially, be waiting until September 2015 to get it.

That seems to link back to them having to stockpile v8's prior to commencement of the 4 months of GT-F building.
Eg to do 500 in 4 months it's my understanding that they had a heap of engines pre-built and ready to go. I am really curious to see how many of these they produce in the full 2 years.
