Question to any ford workers on here. If I buy an XR8 before it's built am I able to request easily to have the G series black ICC surround fitted to mine? Or it be a ****fight?
That's the only thing I would change on the XR's, silver looks pox black looks the goods. Has done since the R-Spec.

Thanks guys

True, have to see one in the flesh to judge I spose. I was under impression G series black XR is a sort of greyish new colour.

Not long for a test drive now!!

The ICC's come complete and are set parts for cars. So you would need to do it yourself....if you can get your hands on one.

Yeah I'm thinkin it would be a pain in the *** to get ford to do. In saying that it's not hard to change two part numbers and fit it in the builing process. If they come in kits wouldn't it be a case of ordering a G series kit or contacting supplier to make a kit with black surround for a certain build number XR8.

Working in the earthmoving industry for 10years I know its much easier to forget it and keep it simple lol
Anyways I might like the grey just didn't like the silver in my FG FPV surround. Looks cheap and scratches very easily.

On the Ford website in the FGX build section, XR6 turbo is coming up as $50500 drive away. Pricing for the other models is there as well(except XR8 of course).

$47600 for black manual XR6T with matching spare.
$5000 extra for Auto with luxury pack = $52600 for works RRP
Yet G6E with matching spare only $51300 n comes with the lot n then some.

~$52,000 for the XR6T auto with luxo pack in Emporer.

(Auto should be a no cost option)

Have G6's always been cheaper than XR I've never priced one just thought they'd be more?

G6ET really should have the LSD or at least make it optional.

It appears Ford have a big market for the new XR8, yet if only a limited number is built then it will be terrible.

Surely they can easily build enough, they use the XR8 as the marketing tool, the car they use for all their marketing. Yet only a limited number is built?
Ford even admitted it was embarrassing when they couldn't make enough FG XR6's in 2008.

1,200 XR8's is nothing. They'll all sell within 3-5 months.

Is there a backup plan for the lack of transmissions?

They will stagger the build. That is over the next 18 months they will only build 70 XR8's per month give or take. Theres around 200 dealerships in the network, so you do the sums.

I reckon some dealerships will get up to 30 cars over the next 18 months, others will get a handful and some will get none.

Just remember that there is a limit with how many V8's they can build a day and they only build 83 vehicles on the line(that includes ute and Terri). Unless they throw in a few Sat shifts supply isn't going to be plentiful for any model really.

So is that 70 autos and manuals per month?
Wondering what the FG XR8 averaged in sales per month?

2,500 Auto's will simply be no where near enough.

So the XR's can skip the manual, but what about the G6E Turbo???

When you look at them selling around 550 units per month, I reckon they will sell around
30 XT's,
50 G6E's,
300 XR6 NA, (the biggest seller).
70 XR6 T
70 XR8
30 G6E T's.

FG XR8 sales were dismal in sedan compared to the rest of the range.

But then we have until October 2016 (another 10 months) and usually you'll get one more massive rush at the end. So pretty much sales will rely on the EcoBoost and aspirated 6? Then XR6 Turbo and XR8 will just be manual and G6E Turbo will die.

Almost as if they don't want to supply enough. For it to outsell its other models :/

They are limited to what they build. I am sure in a perfect world we would all prefer they built XR6 T and XR8 and forgot about NA's but sadly thats where the volume is, rental companies and leases.

Also interesting that Ecolpi is no longer available in G6E.

So if you look at those numbers, lets say about 40 of the 70 XR8 and about the same it XR6T are auto, add the 30 G6ET's and that's around 110 autos a month which means the 2500 auto stockpiled should last the 2 years left

I've only quickly googled: was the '09 FG XR8 (in auto guise) around $46k-48k? Does that sound right?

http://www.carshowroom.com.au/newcar...8___Car_Review

http://www.motoring.com.au/reviews/2...alcon-xr8-6999

I don't say that to make any great point about the difference in expected price, negative or otherwise, mind.

Dont forget about XR6T Ute. Which is probably another 30 units pm.

I reckon they will be 75 - 80% autos the XR8 and XR6 T.

Anyone who wants a performance Falcon better start to get organised I think.

I personally want an FGX G6ET...

XR8 has to be close to 58 - 59k on the road when you look at the XR6 T pricing.

Yeah that's what lead me to look at historical pricing. Given the FG XR6T have been available for well under the "Build Your Ford" quotes for some time (like, $20k lol), I wonder how the RRP of the FGX XR6T will fare, given this time around the XR8 is the awfully compelling proposition that it wasn't years ago.

XR6T is still a hot piece of gear, especially now that it gets decent wheels!
